Protectors Intervention Part 2
Meanwhile inside smithy’s place Tarlee and Thorn where sitting around the dining room table with smithy and his wife just finishing eating.
Thorn: beautiful meal as usual Patricia
Tarlee: Yes, thank you it was a very nice meal
Patricia gets up and starts clearing the table.
Patricia: you are welcome my dear, and Thorn don’t you go trying to flatter me you only show for my cooking buy something from Alfred then leave again, I know your little game.
Patricia takes all the plates into the kitchen leaving thorn with bewildered look on his face.
Smithy: so thorn what brings you here this time need something fixed, buying something or do you have something to trade this time?
Thorn: none of those actually I need to use your medical scanner on Tarlee here.
Smithy: really, what is wrong? She looks in good health to me.
Thorn: nothing is wrong we just need to get a better scan of her omega gene.
Smithy looks Tarlee up and down and looks back at Thorn
Smithy: you should have found that out when you entered the city last I knew they do scan everyone.
Thorn: we did the scanner said level four, which is strange because when I tried to scan her with mine it came with an error saying unknown gene mutation.
Smithy: hmm that is odd maybe yours is broken because it is better than the ones the guards use here. To be on the safe side it cannot hurt to scan her again just to make sure.
Smithy gets up from the table and motions for Thorn and Tarlee to follow him; they all walk out to the back of smithy’s and into a large shed.
The shed has some workbenches, tools and some computers in it. A few projects that smithy is working on are scattered on the workbenches.
They follow smithy into a back room where the medical scanner is set up.
Smithy presses a button the thick glass tube opens
Smithy: now if anyone asks you I do not have one of these you never saw it ok, now please step onto the pad so I can scan you.
Tarlee nods and steps onto the pad smithy presses the button again and the glass tube closes. Smithy presses a few more buttons to set the scanner to scan for her omega gene.
A blue light fills the tube followed by a red light the lights start to pulse switching between blue and red. All of a sudden a green light fill the tube the scanner stops the screen reads Omega Gene Detected level four normal mutation. The glass tube opens and Tarlee steps out.
Smithy: that is odd I have never seen a green light come from the scanner before.
Thorn: that green light did not happen when I tried to scan her.
Tarlee: what is wrong?
Smithy: where was that green light coming from?
Tarlee: my necklace it did the same thing when the guard scanned me when we got here.
Thorn: you were not wearing that when I scanned you were you.
Tarlee: No, I got it out of my backpack when we got on the transport.
Smithy: hmm perhaps you should take it off and I will scan you again.
Tarlee takes off the necklace and gives it to Thorn then steps back onto the pad
Smithy presses the button again and the glass tube closes. Smithy presses a few more buttons to set the scanner to scan for her omega gene again.
A blue light fills the tube followed by a red light the lights start to pulse switching between blue and red again they start to get more rapid then they suddenly stop. The screen flashes: Omega Gene Detected Level 5 Perfect mutation.
Thorns eyes widen in shock as he looks at the screen smithy steps back and begins to stroke his chin in thought.
The glass tube slides open and Tarlee steps out Thorn and smithy both staring at her strangely.
Tarlee: what is wrong you are both scaring me?
Meanwhile out front of smithy place the agent, Jacob and the squad of men have stopped.
Agent: Jacob you stay out here with the men and remember you are not to start anything I do not want to be fighting my way out of this city.
The agent walks to the holocom and presses a button.
Agent: I need to speak with the owner of the business I have some wares he may like to have a look at them.
Patricia goes over to the holocom inside and presses a button
Patricia: It is late and past business hours but I will speak to him.
Smithy: there has been one other person in here with a reading like that, but I thought they only had a son named Jacob, interesting another Blake and level five as well.
Tarlee is about to say something when they are interrupted by Patricia on the holocom.
Patricia: Alfred there is a man out front says he has some things you may like to have a look at, should I send him away or will you talk with him?.
Smithy presses a button on the holocom
Smithy: I’ll go talk with him
Smithy walks out of the shed with Thorn and Tarlee walking a few steps behind, they head for the front of smithy’s place. Smithy gets there before them and is talking to the man, Thorn catches sight of the man and suddenly grabs Tarlee and pulls her out of sight.
Tarlee: what is the big idea?
Thorn: shhh be quite that guy is bad news trust me whenever you see him or his copter around nothing good is happening.
Tarlee: his copter? Is it white with a red-letter c on it?
Thorn: yes it is. How did you know that ?
Tarlee: I saw it land in sector 18 just after we left and you were going to scan me.
Thorn: wonder what he could have wanted in sector 18
Meanwhile in the central guard tower a guard is doing a random sweep of the camera’s and notices what is going on at smithy’s he calls the head guard over to his station.
Guard: Sir there is armed men surrounding Smithy’s and the scanners near there picked up a level three omega. That could be him leading the group should I notify the military carrier.
Head Guard: No, we should be able to handle it ourselves. Dispatch four squads and issue them with the new weapons the O.C.U let us have. It is our job to keep the city safe not the military.
Guard: yes sir
The guard speaks into his comms unit
Guard: Units 5, 3 , 7 and 9 on patrol on the second island report to a supply depo get new equipment then go the business district. Proceed with caution a level three omega and a small squad of men are in the area of smithy’s warehouse. No limitations on orders if the level three gets out of hand bring him down if you can.
A few minutes pass and Jacob is getting bored standing around pacing up and down doing nothing.
Jacob: this really sucks in a city so large and I am not able to do anything, this is worse than being dead.
Then suddenly trucks pull up and whole lot of city guards get out,the ghost leader looking on closes his eyes and shakes his head.
Ghost Leader: this is not going to end well.
Jacob looks at the guards as they get out of the trucks and smiles an evil grin, then draws his sword and charges towards them.
Jacob: finally my kind of fun
As Jacob comes charging at them the guards start to fire, Jacob activates his omega gene and dodges the blaster fire leaping high in the air, he lands in the middle of the guards he starts hacking and slashing at them laughing as he does. The ten men he was with start firing upon some of the other guards that Jacob is not attacking.
Inside smithy’s place the agent hears the commotion and yells into his comms unit.
Agent: What the hell is going on out there?
Squad Leader: city guard showed up Jacob just started attacking them.
Agent: damn that Jacob I knew he would do this the fool.
The agent tips his top hat to smithy
Agent: I am sorry I have a more pressing matter to attend to.
The agent rushes outside leaving smithy standing there Thorn and Tarlee come out of hiding.
Thorn: did he just say Jacob?
Tarlee: it could not be he is dead.
Smithy, Thorn and Tarlee rush outside after the agent and see a full battle scene happening. Jacob is at the end of the street fighting guards while the ten men are trying to cover him. They watch as guards go flying as Jacob punches, kicks and slashes at them
From above the ghost leader presses a button on his comms unit
Ghost Leader: Ghost squad to Lieutenant Kasey get ready to send the containment squads.
Lieutenant Kasey: we will send them on your command ghost squad.
Tarlee looks up at Thorn
Tarlee: we have to do something he will kill them all and who knows what he will do next.
Tarlee tries to run and help but smithy stops her.
Smithy: not much you can do, you will only get caught in the middle of the fire fight. Besides, I would say the military has some containment squads on the way by now.
Tarlee: I am not going to stand here and watch him kill these men, I do not know how he returned from the dead but I will send him back.
A flash of purple comes from Tarlee as she activates her Omega, she is about to rush of when a flash of gold comes from Thorn.
Thorn: you are not going by yourself.
Some of the remaining men that where with the agent and Jacob notice the flashes, they turn their weapons to Tarlee and Thorn and fire a hail of charged bullets fly towards them in a blur of blue streaks. Just before the bullets hit their mark, another flash of purple and the sound of bullets deflecting off metal rings out, the men look on in shock before running out of the area.
Tarlee, Thorn and Smithy turn and look where the other purple flash came from and see Zara standing there swords drawn.
The ghost squad leader presses a button on his comms unit
Ghost leader: Ghost leader to Lieutenant Kasey send the containment squads
Lieutenant Kasey looks at the sergeant and gives him a nod the sergeant presses the button to launch the drop pods.
Meanwhile in front of smithy’s place Tarlee and Thorn are still staring at the figure with the purple glow coming from them. The figure turns around to face them, Tarlee’s eyes are drawn to the necklace hanging around the figures neck her eyes widen, and she reaches over and grabs her necklace, which Thorn is still holding, both necklaces start glowing green.
Tarlee: where did you get that necklace?
The figure looks at Tarlee for a few seconds then lets out a soft sigh and starts to take off her mask.
Figure: I guess I have no reason to hide now.
The figure slides the mask off her face revealing her identity, Thorn and Tarlee both gasp when they see who the figure is.
Thorn: No way, I do not believe it
Smithy: nice to see you again Zara
Tarlee’s eyes start to fill with tears as she looks at Zara
Tarlee: m m mother...
Zara reaches out and wipes the tears from Tarlee’s face and smiles
Zara: there will be plenty of time for talk later but for now, we have bigger problems, like stopping Jacob and the incoming soldiers.
Tarlee wipes her eyes on her sleeve and nods, Thorn just sighs.
Thorn: the odds are better with three we might survive this
Zara: be ready for anything Jacob will do anything to win, and the O.C.U soldiers will not play nice either.
Thorn: trust me we already know about Jacob we had a run in with him in sector 18 but that is a story for another time.
Zara: ok let us see if we can tame the beast.
Smithy stands and watches as Zara, Thorn and Tarlee run off towards Jacob and then heads back inside his shop to take shelter.
