Curse Mark vs 8 Gates vs Sage Mode

Depends on the user. If Naruto had 8 gates I bet he would be better than Gai. Where if Gai had KM naruto would still be superior.

Sage mode when mastered seems to be the best, of course it does have the weakness of not being able to build up the natural energy while moving. Both the curse mark and 8 inner gates have harmful side effects to the users body.

The 'strongest' powerup would be the 8th gate but the technical best power up is SM. I haven't seen anyone open the 8th gate right away, so in theory the 8th gate is a powerup from the 6th or 7th whilst SM adds all sorts of goodies; major increase of durability(nearly no damage received), advanced taijutsu increasement, sensory ability added, reaction speed and basic speed increased and the ability to lift/throw and destroy huge and heavy objects with little to no difficulty.

Curse mark depends on the users ability for the most part, at least it was shown it the sound 5. However, Sasuke's abilities were BA IMO. I'll go with Cruse Mark, a stronger user could really use that to their advantage.

I'm going to have to go with Sage Mode.

1) I gives just about the same qualities you'd obtain from the 8 gates (speed, power, enormous chakra/energy to use) and it's arguable as to what scale each or stronger/weaker then the other.
2) Sage mode gives the user more durrability meaning they're capable of handling pretty strong attacks/blows etc.
3) The only side affect to SM is if you're not a master of it. however if you have mastered there are no draw backs with the exception of the durration of time, which can be argued, varry's between users, although if you have the mediums (Ma and Pa) you can remain in that mode for as long as they're still gathering the chakra for you. In Naruto's case he can't because of the Kyuubi but an ordinary shinobi such as Jiraiya could last longer I believe. If jiraiya had the mastery level of Naruto then he'd be able to remain in sage mode much longer without the risk and the toad transformation.

With 8 gates it requires an enormous amount of physical stress and with the shinobi we've seen using these gates, the temporary release and power granted to the shinobi by the gates is rather short, maybe just as long as say Naruto's Sage mode. The 8 gates stresses the body the more gates that are open and it's still a limited amount of chakra. The gates only release the fullest capacity of a shinobi's chakra internally. After opening the 8th Gate the user will die once it runs so you have roughly 5 minutes (assumption) with the gates fully activated before you die, however with SM you have more time (Naruto as exception unless he has clones stored) and you draw power externally. The external power you draw in is much greater a potential then the internal capacity of one being.

Curse mark...you're a host body for a parasite and you gain a significantnly less amount of chakra then either the gates or Sage Mode. The Curse Mark is a leech technique for the person granting the power and is crutch for the shinobi it's been placed on. You loose yourself the more you depend on it's power and when/if you loose it, unless you have a back up like Sasuke did (Gets MS like right after) you go back to your base and you have to use only what you have. IMO the Curse Mark doesn't constitute as in the same leauge as the 8 gates or Sage Mode.

Also, after a person uses SM, they're very exhausted and have little chakra from using it in conjunction with SM. They aren't as bad off as a person with 8 gates, but it is still a somewhat heavy drawback.

I'd say that SM would give a similar strength boost as the 8 gates, but not as great a speed boost. As per chakra, a SM user can theoretically gain greater chakra as natural chakra is infinite, while an 8 gates user only utilises their own chakra.

I'd be willing to vouch for 8 Gates hype level, though the OP said measure it on technically speaking and not "what's stronger". Well technically speaking Sage Mode is hundreds of times more useful and 'better' in pretty much every sense than 8 Gates or curse mark. Not to mention you know..the whole drawback about dying when 8 gates is up.
