Discuss why someone is ranked where in the list or post your own list. Here's mine (note : there are three lists and mine are top 20 because I feel a top 10 isn't enough for me... One for living characters and one for every character while at the peak of their power. A third list is also there for my EOS predicted list)

Just a few questions, why do you believe Mihawk is stronger than Shanks?
-I do believe Mihawk is a better swordsmen but Shanks should be a all around better fighter.
-It seems as if more people fear Shanks than Mihawk which should mean something

In list 1 you place Garp kinda far down, its probably do to his age, but seeing as how the other Yonkos are probably the same age, he should be able to rival them.

In list 2, I feel as if Garp and Newgate should be on the same level, with Golden Buddha near them around Shiki level IMO

I just want to hear your thought process

It is stated that Dracule Mihawk is a better swordsman, but Shanks should be stronger overall. He has a haki that Mihawk could only dream of. Although I do agree with most of your list, and there's not much to change. It's difficult to make a top ten list when we've yet to see the full strength of most of these people.

nice list you have there I'm impressed but why I cant see Luffy there? or Chinjao and doffy and also most of the worst generation rookies... I wonder why you left them out. Trsust they are strong considering that they have lasted about 2 years in resistance agaist yonkous and the new marines

Being a swordsman requires good all round fighting. E.g. Skill,Speed,Strength,Agility,Reaction speed as just some examples. Both are great all around fighters. I believe Mihawk would edge Shanks. You can't say he is anything other than a Swordsman since he's only ever used the same sword (he clearly treasures it , like other Swordsmen). His sword goes wherever he goes and also he has a Jolly Roger with two swords and has only ever used a sword when seen in combat. So both are Swordsmen.

Most people think:
WSS = worlds best at using a sword
I think:
WSS = Strongest living person who can be classified as a swordsman (Shanks can be classified as a swordsman)

I think Kaidou and Big Mam will be about the same age as the current Admirals. Garp is in his 70's I believe.

Well Ed was the only person to ever tie with Roger in combat since he became PK. We can't really debate about Sengoku and Shiki as we have nothing on their prime states.

Based off of hype for Dragon to be directly opposing the WG wouldn't it make sense that he's strong enough to defeat anyone in a 1v1? Political power in Pirate Crews and the Marines goes hand in hand with individual strength. The same is probably the case with Dragon and his revolutionaries.

How does Shanks have Haki that Mihawk can only dream of? Mihawk instills fear into people based off of Eye contact. It may be a Kenpachi Zaraki-esque way of using Haoshoku Haki. We can't compare their haki as the only Haki we've seen Shanks use at full power was Haoshoku Haki. Making a top 10 list can only really be based upon hype, it was tough to make a list.

They aren't on the first two lists because they aren't strong enough. Isn't that blatantly obvious? Chinjao is in the mid 20s at the peak of his power. Who said the worst generation ever directly opposed the Yonkous?

Me, Ziggy & Kuzan had a debate with him and he refused to listen to us. He thinks Mihawk is stronger for whatever reason, I'll just wait till the manga proves that Shanks is stronger.

Not this again... You lost as towards the end of the thread Ziggy pussied out, Kuzan stopped (most probably reflecting on the debate) and it was basically you and Avinash vs Me,Fujitora and Litz. Kind of indicates something. If you look at my post above you'll see my thinking.

He's Shanks' rival in swordsmanship, not their full strength. I feel like the story has made that obvious so far.
