Because kishi is always showing what the sharingan can do and the how well it is used in different types of battles, viewers or uchiha fan boys tend to grossly underestimate the byakugan. It was stated by ten ten in part 1 that neji defense is more formidable than gaara's, a shinobi known for his incredible defences. Because a gentle fist user can see almost 360 degrees with a 50m plus radius, they can see any attack coming that doesnt enter the blind spot and effectively dodge it. Because of this one ability there evasive abilities are incredible making them able to dodge all and every attack. If an attack should enter the blind spot which is very rare, they will use the rotation to effectively ward off the attack. It took kidomaru multiple tries and even entering curse mark level 1 to finally land a single blow on Neji. That is how he found out that there is a blind spot, all other attacks that neji sees he is able to effectively dodge or block it and only the attacks that enter the blind spot where able to hit.This is a hyuga's defensive abilities, evasion and rotation.


As it relates to there offensive abilities,it is quite formidable as well. kakashi stated that the ability to inflict severe internal trauma with minimal external force, combined with chakra network manipulation, makes the Gentle Fist the most reputable and fearsome taijutsu style known in all of Konohagakure. it has also been stated on many instances that going up against the gentle fist in close combat is suicide.The only weaknes a gentle fist user has is long range fighting which every opponent uses when facing a byakugan user.
It has been stated by neji that any chakra based substance can be destroyed by the gentle fist by attacking the weak point of the jutsu. examples would be kidomaru's web or kisame's water prism jutsu. Amateratsu and susanoo uses chakra, therefore they are chakra based substances and hence can be destroyed by the gentle fist by using there byakugan to find and attack the weak point of the justu. Also the byakugan user is looking at the chakra network system and so visual genjutsu is rendered ineffective against the byakugan user. Most ninjutsu and genjutsu and all taijutsu(because it is close range combat) is useless against Neji trying to figure out how sasuke competes even with ems he doesn't know how to do izangi or izanami or hasnt shown them.

Basically the vaccum palm can effectively shut down the susano'o and the rotation blocks the amaterasu so what else does sasuke have chidori if he comes in range of 64 palms its over shurikens are dodged caught thrown back or rotated. so what does sasuke have that can beat Neji?

on a side note neji can use rotation alot because in the fight with his clone during the kazakage rescue arc there where alot of holes in the ground from using rotation.

a susanoo would be like trying to shut down a bijuu, they have no chakra points
they are chakra.

Amaterasu its pretty dabatable.

Sasuke unlike the other susanoo users has shown to use it as soon as the battle starts.
His arrows would be too much.

This was made with extensive reading of the manga i am starting to realize that it is more balanced than we think every single clan of the leaf has another clan that they are weak against i am shocked that i am the only person who realizes this just think about the time skip kishi implents the 5 change in chakra natures and then when he brings back itachi (who was propably strongest ninja of the current era) and itachi keeps going on about every technique has a weakness from analyzing the manga i have found the sharringan's weakness even though i don't think neji could beat itachi because of the izanangi(one kabuto got hit with) for the record i think any hyuga would get beat by haku's clan
