If he were able to, then the preta path would've been the best counter to Momo's bijuu dama saving Naruto the trouble of containing it and getting injured and weakened in the process leading to his capture. The fact that he didn't only implies that he couldn't.

You misunderstood me. I am not saying that Sasuke doesn't have preta path, only that his preta path has limitation and was useless there. Thus Naruto had to tank the bijuu dama saving Sasuke and the village.
