now people r going to say kobe has 5 rings well guess what for 3 rings he was riding the coattails of shaq i mean u could have put tracy mcgrady in kobes place and tracy would have 3 rings and for the other 2 rings he has pau gasol and when he was by himself kobe didnt go anywhere as for lebron he took shitty teams to a championship and eastern conference finals
kobe lost in finals TWICE
> Gets his first ring
> After switching teams.
Lebron depended on Wade, wade won with old shaq, and as I remember Shaq came to play with kobe in 96
look dwade is my favorite player but it was mainly lebron in the playoffs this year dwade was off in the playoffs this year and for what u said about shaq dont be stupid shaq went to LA because it was LA not for kobe
why? lebron is better than him in everything except kobes a better shotter
now people r going to say kobe has 5 rings well guess what for 3 rings he was riding the coattails of shaq i mean u could have put tracy mcgrady in kobes place and tracy would have 3 rings and for the other 2 rings he has pau gasol and when he was by himself kobe didnt go anywhere as for lebron he took shitty teams to a championship and eastern conference finals
Kobe had more heart he was never afraid if the big moment... Lebron was never comfortable being the man when the pressure rose he shrunk...that's why he joined D-Wade and Bosh just so he doesn't have to be the closer that we all know he clearly is not

The same lame ass argument that every kobe hater use that "kobe wouldn't have won those three rings without shaq". Shaq wouldn't have won those three rings without Kobe either so that statement makes zero sense. And you also brought up Pau Gasol, you must have forgot who won the finals mvp in both of those finals. Lebron had to go on another superstar team in order to get his first ring and failed miserably against a dallas maverick that I thought that the Heat might sweep but lost because of LeBron. Oh and the two finals was none of kobe fault well just a little bit in the 04 finals but it was nothing compared to the lebron 8 pt performance in a game where if the heat had won they would definitely be the champs.
The OP is too vague so I am just going to assume that he is only comparing LeBron and Kobe’s prime years. Now before I get started, comparing these two players prime to each other’s isn’t fair to do being that Kobe has played through his prime entirely while as LeBron just entered his a year or 2 ago. Also it is difficult to do this because people have different meanings and time frames of a player entering and ending of their prime years. With that being said, my view on a player’s prime is when the player’s skill set, peak athleticism, basketball IQ, maturity, and experience all comes together at a certain range of age which I believe is usually around the age from 26-31 years old. People need to understand that a player’s prime years may not always be their best in terms of productivity or accomplishments, it could be before or after the age span I just gave. Now obviously player’s athleticism towards the end of their prime will not be as athletic when they entered it or a player’s basketball IQ and skill set will probably be better towards the end of their prime than when they entered it.
With that being said even though LeBron’s prime isn’t over I will still compare all of Kobe’s years in his prime to LeBron’s and determine who’s better.

* I know both these players have more accomplishments during those years like team records/individual records etc… Didn’t feel like listing them all.
In Conclusion:
As you see above, Kobe has done more than LeBron obviously with the latter having just entered his prime. If I was just looking at the awards and statistics I would say Kobe’s prime is better than LeBron… but if I was actually looking at their game ( which I could go in-depth if anyone would like to discuss) and not just the numbers, LeBron’s 11-12 season was better than any of Kobe’s prime seasons. I’ll say Kobe’s prime was better for now but if LeBron continues to play like he did last year for the next few years, there would be no doubt that LeBron’s prime years were better than Kobe’s.
Just skimmed through the replies and I can’t believe the amount of fails I came across which I will most likely address later…
> Gets his first ring
> After switching teams.
nope, how can you say that? Lebron is on pace to be one of the greatest of all time, but at this point to surpass the black mamba.
at this point in Kobe career he had 3 rings, and at 28 led the league in scoring with 35.6 ppg and scored the second most points in a game..
Imo lebron at the end of his career might go down as the greatest ever, but as of now He isn't better then kobe prime.

Not really. Care to explain…Come dude be for real Kobe is better than LeBron
So Bill Russel > Jordan, Robert Horry > Kobe, Adam Morrison > LeBron? Take that weak argument somewhere else… oh, and is that your ranking of just those three players or do you honestly those 3 basketball players are the 3 greatest of all-time (Kobe and LeBron)?talk to me when lebron has a ring on each finger il admit hes really really good but it will always be
1-Jordan
2-Bryant
3-James
What is your point?> Gets his first ring
> After switching teams.
Please provide an actual argument before spewing nonsense… also it is clear as daytime that LeBron is better than Durant. If you want to debate that I will be willing to do that.Prime Kobe would wipe the floor with current lebron.
Off Topic: Durant is better than Lebron...
Yes Kobe had 3 rings before entering his prime but the Lakers team was stacked back then while LeBron has carried average/below average teammates for most of his career. Kobe is a scorer so of course he is going to be putting up higher scoring number while LeBron isn’t, he is a facilitator who is the most complete basketball player in the game… something that Kobe wasn’t in his prime (although he was still a hell of a player).nope, how can you say that? Lebron is on pace to be one of the greatest of all time, but at this point to surpass the black mamba.

In his first championship appearance he probably carried one of the worst if not the worst supporting cast to make it to the finals, if you don’t remember here you go: Shannon brown, Daniel Gibson, Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden, Big Z, Damon Jones, Donyell Marshall, Ira Newbie, Sasha Pavlovic, Scott Pollard, Eric Snow, Anderson Varajao, and David Wesley. LeBron does make his surrounding players better but he can’t make the shot for them. The Cavs second leading scorer was Drew Gooden who averaged 12.8 PPG. U_UIf that was the case he wouldn't have lost in the finals... Twice!!!
LeBron is the best player on the Heat (Dwade and LeBron need each other), Kobe wasn't during the Shaq years (but both needed each other)Lebron depended on Wade, wade won with old shaq, and as I remember Shaq came to play with kobe in 96
Edit
But Kobe has a + 500 record in the finals and LBJ 1 for 3
Actually that quote was one of the worst arguments on this thread.smh this is what kills the debate .
OT: Nahh i like lebron now being better than kobe. But bush kobe was the man.
So we are judging who is better by “who has more heart”… really?Kobe had more heart he was never afraid if the big moment... Lebron was never comfortable being the man when the pressure rose he shrunk...that's why he joined D-Wade and Bosh just so he doesn't have to be the closer that we all know he clearly is not
There is now doubt top to bottom the West was better but calling the east trash isn't a smart thing to say, they just weren’t as top heavy as the West. Also winning a championship is difficult to do whether if it is in the West or East, you make it seem has playing in the East was an easy way to get to the championship which is absurd. Are you saying that Shaq wasn’t the best player on those Lakers teams? Shaq was clearly the better player but both needed each other to win.The eastern conference was trash back then...as for riding the coat tails of shaq last time I checked shaq big ass was 0-1 in the finals before teaming up with Kobe...He won 3 with Kobe...as far as putting T-Mac on that team they would not have won 3 rings because T-Mac was not a great defender...Kobe shut down the opposing teams best player along with Rick Fox
Why are you trying to hold LeBron teaming up with Dwade and Bosh against him? Kobe was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets and he told them and other teams that he only wanted to play for the Lakers and was going to play overseas or some shit like that if his demands wasn't met… The Nets wanted to draft him but after he made that demand they decided to take Kerry Kittles instead at the number 8 pick (Hornets had the 13th pick) in the draft (The same lame ass argument that every kobe hater use that "kobe wouldn't have won those three rings without shaq". Shaq wouldn't have won those three rings without Kobe either so that statement makes zero sense. And you also brought up Pau Gasol, you must have forgot who won the finals mvp in both of those finals.
