I've been thinking that people underestimated Kimimaro for as long as they've been underestimating Itachi - two characters that the author needed to divinely drop dead from sickness.

I'd like to quickly recap on Kimimaro's characterists, and why his kekkei genkai is so powerful. I am a fanboy, so endure any hyperboles you perceive. Although I think everything below is fair.

Kimimaro's default regeneration feats are comparable to Genesis Rebirth. He routinely tore apart his own skin, muscles, nerves - everything - to use his bones as weapons. He pulled out his spine.

Kimimaro's defense is comparable to Kakuzu's Doton: Domu. He tanked Gaara's desert coffin by forming bone armor beneath his skin. Are you following? Tsunade with Doton: Domu.

Kimimaro's skill is top notch. He was only touched by Drunk Lee - somebody that knocked out Gai. He is listed as Tsunade's equal in taijutsu, is a full tier higher in speed.

His ninjutsu was just beefed in this chapter. We knew he could make bullets or forests, and fuse with these bones, but now he can make bones spring out from the ground without being buried by Gaara.

With five in stamina, and without sickness, he can outlast most people by simply beating on them with his impenetrable, regenerating body.

No need to defeat current Kimimaro, just hav to seal him... Well its pretty easy. If you are taking a healthy alive Kimimaro Vs Gaara means it will be full fierce battle & Healthy Kimimaro has advantage over Gaara.

Totally agree! Gaara defeated him in the past and is now much stronger. Edo Tensei kimmi doesn't change anything because Gaara has a sealing jutsu strong enough to seal him (the one he used on the 3 mizukage)

Also, (I don't know why Gaara doesn't do this) he can just make his sand go inside the opponents ears, nostrils, mouth and ....erm... the other holes and simply tear them apart from inside.

Edo Kimmi could survive suffocation as well as almost everything else.

Filling them up with sand and make them explode would be nice, but it's not a technique that will go unnoticed by the victim I think..
