Okay, I am a runner and I love running but there are just some people that take it too far. Here are my reasons why cross country is a terrible sport and why other sports trump it.
1. Running = Unhealthy: That's right. Scientists have found evidence that too much running can actually be bad for you because if you overdo it (which most people do) over time it can wear down your joints. In fact people that run a lot actually have shorter life spans. Lol also cross country runners have to starve themselves to feel like they can run at top performance.
2. Running doesn't give you results: Many people run to lose weight and some even think they might gain a little muscle while doing it. Those people are kidding themselves. Running isn't the best cardio workout for you. Usually runners only stick to running and that is it. It doesn't give you results. Most cross country skinners are skinny.
3. Running is boring: I mean think about it. Any fool can run. Running is a mechanism built to get away from dangerous situations and to watch white chicks fall in horror movies. Since when did it become a sport? Running is about as exciting as watching paint dry. I'd rather watch two dumb people argue than watch someone run. People say that they use running to escape stress. If I got into a fight with someone or had a lot of stress on my head running is the last thing I would do. I would feel much better punching a punching bag and getting my frustration out physically rather than tiring myself out running and looking like a pansy. Cross country is a simple sport. Once again it's so simple any one can do it.
4. Runners are cocky and arrogant: I mean it's okay to take pride in your sport and love what you do but talk to a cross country runner about running and 5 minutes into it you'll be ready to hit them with a frying pan. They're always full of pride and have their heads held high. For what? Anyone can run. They're always bragging and saying how non-runners can never understand what it feels like. Once again: ANY FOOL CAN RUN!!! I ran a 5K once and I told my cross country friend that I beat my personal record of 25 minutes. I was proud. Then he said that was nothing and started bragging about it. Running isn't actually that hard. I could do that in my sleep. My personal record is 16 minutes... blah blah blah. When you have good news they always have a way of turning it around and bragging about themselves. Also, when's the last time you saw an attractive person running?
These are my reasons for why cross country sucks or should i say lacks quality. Please feel free to share your own experiences with cross country/cross country runners.
