Creating an Index of Rules and Guides/Tutorials

I have been a fan of Narutobase for a long amount of time, but only recently I became a member for the rpg aspect of the site. As a new rpg player, I was reading all of the rules that I could find. As a result, I discovered some disorganization among the forums (such as how the Battle Ranks Thread is in the RPG Character Biographies section but not in Rules and info).

My suggestion is to reorganize these rules in the sub forums and make them easier to find.

However, I have been in that situation before where that one guy walks into a project/organization and starts to question what has been done even though he has no idea at all how much time and effort has been invested into the project already and how much time and effort would be required to carry out the suggestions he is making. I know how extremely aggravating that is and how you want to tell him “why don’t you go try to do that” - I do not want to be that guy.

I would offer to make those changes myself but seeing as how I have been a member for under a month and how much power would need to be given to me to make those changes, (correct me if I am wrong) it is impossible for me to actually reorganize the rules and complete my suggestion. (I know that I would never give someone who has been a member for under a month power over something that I have invested years into.)

Therefore, my solution is to create an index of rules for all the various forums on Narutobase. Keep in mind that some areas will be more detailed than others because I have been most active in the rpg area but I will continue to update them as much as possible.

Are you suggesting a moderator create an index?
From what I'm seeing here you just went straight Ahead and did that, not even having much experience/knowledge of the forums. In addition to that, all you did is pretty much extract stickies and put them in a thread, someone could just easily visit the section and read the sticky. I don't think this type of index is necessary, it's just highlighting the obvious (stickies etc). Useful indexes highlight something not easy/time consuming to find. Eg. The bio rules index (why did you even add each on a separate link, there's already an index for it)and dan's bio test index.

Forgive the minor errors, I'm not on my PC.

My only question is... why is the Index posted in a separate thread in Q&S? You could have hidden it in a spoiler in this thread.

As for the suggestion itself, I thought your Index was supposed to be just for the RP Section Rules & Guidelines... otherwise, your index looks pretty much like the FAQs sticky. o.o

I know you mean well and all, but the fact of the matter is the thread you have would be just as hard to find as, if not more than all the stickied threads. They could also just as well search for the information themselves. Thank you but this is honestly un-needed. Rep+ for your efforts though

Tbh the idea isn't half bad, mainly for the RP section though (as some rules are scattered around the sections). the other sections i don't see the big need for it. In terms of RP i have personally thought of making something similar but time is short for everything we need to do. I'll talk to the others and see if this is possible and makes sense. Thanks.​

The idea to make the index was mainly for the RP section but I decided to include everything else to make the index more comprehensive.

@Scorps, you are more than welcomed to just take the section about the RP if you want

@Drizzeh, I know that Calliburn's bio index already compiled a list of limitations but I included them to make the index more complete. It was not just coppying and pasting stickies from the RPG forum, they were organized so that people could find them easier. I recently came in as a brand new RPG player and for us it is actually very difficult to keep track of the different rules in RP because they are all over the forum. The rest of the index is to make it useful to Narutobase as a whole. I can easily get rid of everything else but the RP section if need be.

I explained that I actually made the index because I knew that it would be time consuming and I did not want the moderators to waste the time in making it. The reason the actual index is in a second post is so that if the moderators moderators decide to use it, they can easily just move it without worrying about it being cluttered with comments

I know I missed a couple of things. If you know of anything I missed, just send me the link and I will update the list. Also, if you have better ideas of organizing it, let me know.
