[Discussion] Couple of old patterns plus new patterns

There are lots of patterns that dictate the strawhats and who will and will not join.

1. The Three Seas Patterns

   Monkey D luffy has gotten four new crew members in every ocean he has been to.
   

   • East blue
     1. Zoro
     2. Nami
     3. Usopp
     4. Sanji
   • Paridise
     1. Chopper
     2. Robin
     3. Franky
     4. Brook
     The pattern being that its a male crew member. Then female crew member. Followed by two more male crew members.
   • New world
     1. Male
     2. Female
     3. Male
     4. Male
2. The Devil Fruit wordplay pattern

   Meaning that the next fruit would have to be either Fuku fuku (Clothes man) Or a Paw man (nikyu)
3. The Coward the Fighters and the Lady Pattern

   This one is pretty much straight forward and expands on the first pattern.
   In each of the seas Luffy gets two very powerful crew members that are male one female crew member and one cowardly crew member.
4. The Crew Number Pattern
   
   Spoiler

   The Crew members are each given a chapter.
   Zoro's chapter is "The First Person"
   Nami's chapter is "The Second Person"
   Ect.
   But the pattern is that the woman crew member and the person that joins after them do not get a chapter named after them immediately upon joining.
   Ergo Nami's chapter "The Second Person" Comes after the defeat of arlong almost 30 chapters later.
   And Similarly Usopp's chapter "The Third and The Seventh" Comes in the same time Franky joined.
   And the pattern follows Robin and chopper as well who haven't been given number chapters either.
   Robin who would be the sixth and Chopper who would be the fifth

Each sea delievers a different type of crew members

When we start off with the first sea we see

• Zoro- a regular man strong but normal pirate hunter is his nickname
• Nami is regular and her nickname is The cat burgular
• Ussop - normal no nickname
• Sanji is normal with no nickname and the last member from East blue
• Chopper is close to a tanuki a mythical creature from japanes ledgend
• Robin is human but her nickname is demon another mythical creature
• Franky is a cyborg another fictional creature
• And brooke is a skeleton again one more fictional creature

But all of those characters were either human or have a human devil fruit
Moving forward I excpect to see less and less human features obviously except for the woman who has remained human till this point

If Jinbe survives this arc then he is definitely joining. Perhaps Carrot will join also? But that one not so sure.

Im not keen on anyone joining unless they have had a meaningful experience with the crew pre TS, Jinbe is basically the one candidate post TS who went through the TS like ths SHs did after MF

I know it's a silly restriction but inthink that for me every new character who has not shared that exp with the crew will always be somehow separate from the 10 we have now, the other kinda fit post TS is Vivi

Idk it just wouldnt be the same, the TS has so far been the most significant event for the SH crew as a whole, and maybe the most intemse Luffy-to-crew relationship/ties moment so far, and Jinbe was there, a new character who never went through it would just feel off

Its that reason and the fact that Oda already started making allies and a fleet rather than crewmates kinda makes me think it will actually be the number 10

Im kinda leaning towards what luffy said being it, either a crew of 10 as we have now or luffy and 10 nakama but the 11th needs to be very carefully chosen, maybe Vivi once the world and the WG kingdoms structure (assuming that actually happens) goes to the dogs

Another reason is ofc that every new crew member means less devotion to the ones we love now, we already have SHs split into groups, more nakama may be stretching it, even for Oda

There is no way there will be that many people joining. I can see jimbei because he has had his fair amount of screen time pre-skip. We know him as a character and doesn't need introduction.

But Luffy isn't going to pick up 3 brand new characters on the home stretch to Raftel. They would be the odd man out in the crew.

The only pattern I think is interesting is the one with the Devil Fruit names, that being said I also think that is a coincidence.

Here is a pattern: FORESHADOWING. Something that 95% of SH candidates don't have. "I want them to join" doesn't count as evidence. Yes I'm pretty hostile cause I hate nakama theories as 99% of them are bullsh!t wish fulfillment.

I'm with Olorin and Love Cook on this. Jinbe is all but in the crew at this point, and there's virtually nobody from pre-TS that has a close enough bond with SH crew, other than Vivi. There is only one other person who I can even humor the possibility of them joining, that being Coby. Coby wouldn't ever join though, because his life's dream was to become a Marine. I'd say he'd be the one to offer the olive branch between the Marines and SH, but that would take a huge amount of authority, which he's nowhere close to having yet.

I'll concede it's not impossible for Carrot to end up joining the crew, but I don't think she's had enough character development to warrant it. I feel that she'd end up joining the SH Grand Fleet, not the main crew.

Wouldn't call most of these legit patterns though. From your new ones I still don't get that letter pattern. I assume that is a translation from Japanese, however with our alphabet it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever unless I'm missing something here. Your 2nd one isn't even a pattern as it comes down to that two Strawhats are not identical to one another, which pretty much applies to almost all the characters in the OPverse. Your 3rd old pattern I wouldn't qualify as a pattern either. Two strong fighters, one woman and one coward? There is no connection between any of those three as the first is combat ability, the 2nd gender and the third someone's state of mind. On top of that it's rather debatable who is supposed to be who as for instance both Chopper and Brook have cowardly tendencies (one more than the other), but both are strong fighters. So this really is a forced pattern and a rather weird one too.

And in regards to the three seas pattern, well it has already been mentioned in this thread. Frankly there is a limit to how many crew members still can be added as we are well around 2/3rd of the entire story. Adding new Strawhats just when the series is about to finish is rather pointless as there is no room anymore for them to grow as a Strawhat. Jinbei had the advantage that he already has an entire history with the crew and I can see it happen that maybe one other character, like Carrot, would eventually join. However I'm highly skeptical about having 4 new members in total. In particular because Luffy himself stated at one point he wanted 10 members. So truthfully this isn't a correct pattern either.

The crew number pattern then is technically speaking correct, but it's not really useful as when you see that a chapter has that title, you know someone will join in that particular chapter and in most of the cases that's just a formality.

It seems like the letter not connected to their name is connected to a trait about them. Now it's not that strong but it's just something I noticed and it kind of falls apart with Jinbei and Zoro.

Shit theory is shit. His most likely going to get 10 members, jimbei being the final member to join. For those saying vivi will join, go home. She is a princess and must lead by example. She had her fair share of fun, she can be friends with the strawhats for x amount of years but she cannot join them. Her father is near death and she is the only child ( I have a theory the goresei will order his kill at the reverie for mentioning ponoglyphs). She HAS to lead the next generation proper, otherwise her country will blindly follow the world governments propaganda of them being PURE good.

Also, all the strawhats have nicknames what you on about ? Everytime there is a epic scene with them, the fodder #111223 will say omg that 'insert knickname'.
