Yupp could havr been avoided for sure. But too her those eyes were a memento of nagato and everything they worked for she wanted too leave them intact. Also she was certain shed beat obito. So that's why

My guess....is she considered them sacred to her village? She did say something along the lines of they belong to her village iirc. Or maybe they held a certain sentimental value....which she intended to be there to remind her of her friends?

Yeah that would've ended it. A lot of things could have stopped the current events in Naruto.
-Obito's death before akatski forming
-Obito's death before Madara
-Obito's death before madara revival.
-Madara's death before obito
-Kabutto's death before revival of madara
-Some way of killing the tailed beasts.
-Shinobi Alliance before tailed beasts captured.

Probably some more, I can't think of.
