Couldn't Minato really kill Obito?

From the flashbacks we saw about Obito's attack many years ago, Minato beat him by a rasengan with his analysis and smartness and at the same time placed a Teleportation formula on his back as follows:

after this, Obito retreated on a stone and was feeling hurt due to his hand's falling down:

You must be registered for see images

and after that, he was talking to Minato during which Minato suddenly appeared before him (due to the teleport formula) and made a contact seal to separate 9tails from Obito:

You must be registered for see images

Obito was so much shocked that he couldn't do anything. I think could kill him at that time with the formula he had put on Obito while he was in the state of shock. This state-if-shock doesn't need to be long cause Minato needs just an instant to catch him.

guess your wondering why minato just let obito disappear and run away after he took the 9tails from him after that FTG jutsu landed and desroyed half his body huh? Well Kishi made Minato kinda like Itachi in the sense that they wont kill the greatest evils like ORochimaru and Obito for no reason i guess

True,but we already know, if you watched naruto road to ninja. What it would be like if none of the story plot happened.
I havent watched just what ive seen on the previews XD

I keep telling people Minato went boss mode during that battle. Diverted a tailed beast bomb, fought Obito, summoned Gamabunta, teleported the 9 tails, performed the reaper death seal, and still had time to perform the sealing ritual on Naruto. He could have given a killing blow there, but I think the only reason was that he was more focused on breaking the contract with the 9 tails. There was too much he didn't know about his enemy and couldn't risk it. For all he knew Obito coulda been a freak like Hidan and then he'd be screwed unsealing the 9 tails from him.
