He is a Logia, couldnt he make a new hand out of sand like Aokiji did with his leg in the Z film.
Seems like it would be more useful to have in evreyday situations then the hook

But the hook looks stylish! Makes him look like a real pirate. =D

Plus it has that poison, so it's more useful in battle I'd imagine.

Probably, but with the poison hook he'd have another weapon that he can also turn into sand.... Possibly more useful than that of his regular hand... Hard to say.

No. It seems when a logias limb is severed with the use of Haki it can't regrow naturally.
Aokiji has an Ice leg. But a Sand hand would be useless.
He may have lost his hand before he ate the Suna Suna no Mi

tbh I don't think he could, Aokiji super froze his ice so it remains like his hand but I don't think croc. could make something new that wasn't there before permanent, like he can un-materialise his head then materialise it back, but since his other hand isnt there, he can't materialise it now, well that's just my theory

@rinnemaki true dat n anyways hook is helpful if he fights pple with kairoseki embedded weapons to block and the poison give him variety. Plus ice has a solid more rigid state were sand is a loose element.

no because the hook is more badass boss like and fits the pirate theme perfectly.

It also seems to take up mental power.
Kuzan most likely has to concentrate to keep his leg in place.
Plus his hook has poison. A poison hand is more useful than a hand when it comes to combat.

Especially if the hand was made of sand. It would just fall apart the whole time.

Well not necessarily.
We have seen Crocodile make objects with sand strong enough to cut things in two.

What I mean is Sand grains in large amounts can never maintain their shape without water ; but that weakens him. So his hand would never be usable as a hand unlike Kuzans Ice leg which can maintain a solid and consistent form.

We don't even know if he lost his actual hand and that the hook thing is just a tool/weapon.

It's big enough to fit a hand and Oda made weirder character designs before.

Oh, yup.
Exactly. It takes Kuzan less effort to form his leg.

I don't think a sand hand is as effective as a solid ice hand
