Is it weird i sometimes feel like im not meant for this time and age? In most scenarios id actually prefer to be in the roman times. Stuffs like GoT or Lotr.

I don't think that most people would, as there are many considerations to take in before answering this question:
1.) Most people take infrastructure for granted, and forget about the never ending continual maintenance done upon it. Roads need to be rebuilt, as do sidewalks, pipelines need to be properly managed, as do railroads, waterways, etc.
1b.) It's through this infrastructure that most food and essential goods (think medicines, containers, agricultural tools, woodmaking materials, and the like, you know, the materials of which would be a necessity in this sort of situation)
1c.) As such, most of this material would not only be far more difficult to transport, but some material, such as larger containers of cotton from the south, walnuts and almonds from California, or circus fruits from Florida, would be impractical to transport to where I live, Wisconsin, to name an example of the sacrifices people would experience if they live without industrialization

2.) The modern format of industrialization also eliminate much of the earlier infrastructure that existed before large scale industrialization occurred, in that local producer of goods, shoemakers, carpenters, blacksmiths and the like, were in existence before over-specialization and large scale production pushed most of those people into bankruptcy and extinction. Hell, this happened with heirloom breeds animals too, as said breeds were adaptable and were produced for multiple purposes (for example, sheep were raised for wool and meat, while cows for milk and meat), instead of the specialized breeds, in which, say, cows, are raised for either milk or meat, but not both.

3.) Let's pushed all that aside, though, and just focus on the individual situation, as this thread was mostly intended for. How many skills do most of you know? Do you know how to garden? Hunt? Work with wood? Work with metal? Make clothing? Raise animals? Built a home that is able to warm itself up with just a fireplace? Cool itself done without AC? Cook without the use of electricity? Be able to find wood? This is most important, be able to manage a series of tasks and goods in such a way that you are able to sustain yourself yearly and also develop a slight surplus in case luck doesn't go your way? For that matter, if things go to hell in a handbasket, can you manage to redevelop everything you had?

If you said yes to some of this, have you ever tested out your skills in a true desperate situation? If so, did you manage to stay sane and healthy while doing so?

Thus, my answer to this thread is f uck that shit. I rather play my bloody video games than frolic in the woods for a week before I die :coffee:

Unless this is just about computers and modern crap of that sort, in which all I can say is that I still would rather play my video games :coffee:

Lots of people would die before the whole world gets used to it and learns how to live like in the old days. We're not as immune to diseases and whatnot as we used to be 100s if not 1000s of years ago, we would die from disease, cold, and countless other things.

Nowadays we depend on technology one way or another.

No. No computer, no consoles, no Kindle, no music player, no music, no curling tongs, no hairdryer...No, NO, NO!

There was a powercut for a day once and I thought I had gone insane

On second thought...If I have Gin, then sure, I would have something to do all day and wouldn't notice if there where no lights :snick:
