Could Tsunade have healed Itachi's Illness, or was did he suffer from some kind of cancer?

It was an unknown illness so we don't exactly know what was wrong with him, Soooo manny? don't know - but if she could - would she though considering he was the enemy.

It was unknown of what sickness he had. Tsunade perhaps could have healed him but Itachi wanted to die.

If she can heal herself from being bisected than I'm sure she could have. Itachi showed no intention of wanting to cure his illness though as we already know he had planned to die by Sasuke's hand.

And where you read that Hashirama was a medical ninja? As I remember he could only heal his own injuries.

As far as i'm aware, ninja AIDS is an incurable disease. Perhaps she could've extended his life expectancy, but not even Tsunade could work such a miracle as to completely cure him of this disease.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but Tsunade has ZERO feats in healing degenerative diseases. The reiterative throw ups/coughs of blood Itachi showed, heavily imply the pressence of a progressive disease like Tuberculosis or Pulmonary edema(hence why he used to grab his chest when in pain), the most Tsunade could do is probably slowing it down, but there is no point to it, since Itachi was already half dead when we noticed, too late for Tsunade to do anything.
