[Discussion] Could the Naruto manga be the best japanese manga of all time?

You should try One Piece and Bleach at least. They are just as good as Naruto.

I tried One Piece episode one, I'll try again after Naruto ends.


I watched Bleach for a long time, then I just stopped, it's doo doo.

I think it's simply a matter of opinion. Some might think Naruto is not good enough to be the 'best Japanese manga of all time'. It really depends on the range of manga you've read and what you enjoyed the most.

Nonetheless, it's definitely one of the most popular. It would be in the current Top 5 at least. In terms of the story and characters though? Probably not the best, but close.

Hell no, how about you read as much mangas as me to make such a misguided opinion. Naruto is up there but there so many better mangas imo. Like One punch man, Baki the grappler, Death note, Higurashi light novels, and so on.

damn! i gotta start reading one piece XD everyone says it`s the best so it has to be true....but i tried reading two times before....first time i got to the 6th chapter and it became boring to me....second time i got to the 16th chapter but got bored....i guess the good part starts later on...h:

but i also didnt like naruto at the beginning but it got better later on so it`s gotta be the same with one piece ....XD

I have an idea, Owl. How about you read 100 mangas and then come back to us on that. In order to present a serious argument you have to at least have a certain number of titles under your belt. Not just of what is currently running but also of titles published decades ago. Instead you're only able to tell us you watched a couple episodes of this or that, and that's only of series that had the honor of having an animated adaptation. Every manga written in Japan is a piece of Japanese culture. Can you even tell us the name of the guy who is the father of manga?

Naruto was only able to make the sales that it's making now because of the pioneers who came before Kishimoto that paved the way for the popularity of manga outside of Japan. It's not only because it's good, he's just lucky in his timing, because there could be many titles that came earlier that were better that just were never discovered.

As far as sales per year go, this is the ranking for best selling mangas of all time in Japan:

1. Dragonball Z
2. One Piece
3. Naruto
4. Slam Dunk
5. Bleach

Since DBZ is no longer in production that would make One Piece the current #1 manga and Naruto in the #2 spot.

and fairy tail was good...up until the time skip that is, nowadays it's a chore for me to read new chapter and the grand magic games is probably the worst arc iv'e seen in anime/manga history

I dont even consider it the best Ive read and Ive only seriously read like 5 mangas.

But its in the top 5 for me.


Although in terms of sales and popularity, Naruto is probably Top 5.

Oh, I don't really follow One Piece anymore so I didn't know. I agree with you though, DBZ and Naruto seem to be the most known.

DBZ and Naruto are most known in america but in japan it is mostly one piece and DBZ a bit more than naruto
