Could Mei (with intel) beat Itachi?

Im not going to go into detail but i think mei has the potential to beat itachi...not saying she will win, but she could.

she avoids getting one-shotted by amaterasu or tsukuyomi with the hidden mist jutsu

now itachi can't see her since the mist is in the way so he can't land a hit on her with amaterasu. and he can't make eye contact with her through the thick mist either. so genjutsu and amaterasu are a no-no. mei knows not to look into itachi's eyes so sharingan can distinguish chakra by its color, but that doesn't matter since it's canon that the sharingan can't see through the mist

Some people say that katons are a hard counter to mist and will blow them away. in actuality they will do nothing except add heat and smoke, making it even harder for itachi to see. katons are countered by suitons anyway lol

anyway, moving on to offense. how does mei kill itachi?

Flood the area with acidic mist. this KKG mist is extremely deadly and will start to painfully burn itachi just like it burnt his brother, and perhaps melt his lungs and cause internal damage if the stuff is inhaled. since it isn't a pinpoint attack (and since there's already normal mist in the air) itachi wouldn't be able to see where it's coming from or detect mei.

To counter this itachi will probably put up a ribcage susanoo. but alas, it is to no avail since the fog melts right through it.

So to defend himself Itachi will have to pull out V4 Susanoo, which for the benefit of doubt i'll assume cannot be melted by the mist.

So what Mei could do is

1 - wait until itachi runs out of juice and dies from overusing susanoo
2 - spits oceans of lava at him. UZMAKIMADARA made a good thread about how Sasuke's susanoo cannot tank lava, so it would be the same case with Itachi. Here's the link;

Hidden Mist obscures his vision and then Lava solos Itachi.
Acid Air burns Susano'o down, so that's useless.

Any kind of Katon tech from Itachi will clear the mist. Idk where you're getting the heat/smoke argument from. And even if that was true, there's no proof that Sharingan can't see through the smoke.

Regardless of whether Suiton can counter his Katon techs, the fact that there is any kind of Katon in the environment means the mist will be gone.

After the mist is gone, Mei loses.

Totsuka reflects every change in nature. Mei is strong but I don't think so. But if , you mean alive Itachi she can probably drag the fight and make him die from exhaustion and his illness

Depends on how the fight starts.

Depending on the distance, itachi can close the gap with a shunshin similar to what he did with kureni.

Im skeptical whether or not a katon would have any effect on the mist... I honestly don't see it doing anything to the mist.
