Could kurama have been friends with ashura?

We all know when naruto took kurama's chakra he couldn't enter bijuu mode until he became friends with kurama. Then we see ashura in kurama's bijuu mode but it had what look like 2 strange helmets in a way. Could ashura have been kuramas friend at one point that kurama just didn't mention?

I believe so. Ashura sounds just like another Naruto in every way so I would believe its possible that he befriended Kurama before Kurama became the big bundle of hatred.
