Could Jiraiya have really beat Pain, had he known there secret?

yes. for the simple reason that he would have gone for the real nagato and the deva path in particular would have to be very careful. three pains didn't land a significant hit on jiraiya even while he was entering sage mode, and he survived and escaped the full six for a fair bit with one arm. full strength and with knowledge he has the tools to pick them off one at a time. jiraiya just had the misfortune to fight one of the strongest characters in naruto and with the best secret.

also, konoha was nowhere near full sterngth when pain invaded. tsunade, base naruto, kakashi and guy would beat Pain with knowledge for sure. Pain did flatten the village, but the only worthwhile ninja he beat that day was Kakashi and he needed his two most offesnive pains for that.

Yes! Frog Song Genjutsu would have destroyed all 6 Paths had they been together from the beginning!

If the other paths had been there, the frogs would never have been able to finish the frog Genjutsu. They only managed to use it due to the three paths present not having any long range attacks.

I beg to differ, he would've died almost instantly had deva and asura path been there, human path was useless in that fight and the only offensive path was the animal path. If pein opened up with Deva and Asura paths along with the animal path, I doubt he would've lasted long enough to activate sage mode.

The only one I think he would have to worry about is Deva, simply because it can do almost anything it wants. And when I am putting J-Man against Pain(s) I am assuming Sage Modes is already activated, like you said, if all of them were there infront of him he wouldn't even be able to do that. So if the situation starts with Jiraiya and Pain(s) are squaring off, then Jiraiya is most likely a quick dead man for many reasons. If he were to some how eliminate Deva and Naraka path his chances would obviously sky rocket.

That's why I believe Jiraiya is being underrated, he had to beaten/downgraded to show how powerful Pain was to further show another progression in Naruto. I guess basically what I am trying to get across is SM Naruto isn't that much more powerful, if at all, than SM Jiraiya.

But how in the world will Jiraiya stop Planetary Destruction or Chikbaku Tensei or whatever its name is.
It help down the Kyuubi until it went into its Eighth form so how would Jiraiya-chan stop him?

Well do you think Shima and Fukasaku will just sit idly by as Jiraiya is being pulled in by Bansho Tennin or Chibaku Tensei? They are there to help Jiraiya any way they can. Jiraiya's Sennin Mode may not be perfect but it is the strongest! He has the Two Great Sage's of Myobokuzan on his shoulders. You are underestimating him.

He can't really, like I said, Deva path can do almost anything it wants. If he was is SM, possibly frog song before Pain creates Chibaku Tensei, other than that he can only try and run away once it's created because there is no way Jman can muster up the power of Kurama 8-tails or Naruto/B/Itachi OP combination shot.

I agree with the fact that if deva were not there, his chances increase dramatically, but with him there, Jiraiya's entire arsenal is pretty much countered, simply because deva path is equal parts offense and defense. Anytime jiraiya tries to focus on any other path, Deva will be there.

Jiraiya does have the same 1 shot potential as Naruto, but naruto had the advantage of being separate from the toads, they also helped him a lot in that fight. Jiraiya doesn't have the advantage of multiple parties on the battlefield like Naruto had, seeing as he had mama and papa toad, and Hinata helping him. also, with Deva being just as defensive as he is offensive , him backing up other paths is a frighteningly OP combo, it makes it too easy for him to get overwhelmed.

Pain said he might be able to, so J-man with knowledge has better odds but Nagato still wins in most scenarios. J-man actually does have a shot at ending him though (as stated by Pain), which is pretty impressive since Nagato is far above him in power.
