Could Itachi have saved the Uchiha?

So we know that Itachi was one of the best sharingan users in the village and just a talented ninja in general. The first part of this question is: Could Itachi have ever been chosen as Hokage given the politics in the village? The second part is: If He was chosen as hokage, would that direct influence in village be enough to stop the planned coup?

Itachi wouldn't have been chosen Hokage. You know that politics affects the Ninja world too right? And the coup would probably have been carried out by the time he became Hokage.

Yes because he holds the village above his clan so yes to both xd oh yeah I forgot that villagers hate them so no to 1st

yes to both.. as everyone should know the coup wouldn't have happened if itachi was chosen hokage.. the only reason the coup was happening is because the uchiha clan was losing their names.. if ANY uchiha was to be hokage then they would be dominant again and they wouldn't have to plan any coup

I think that Itachi being hokage could have been a possibility, if ofcourse things had gone differently.
Reasons;
Was very smart, and itelligent.
Very proficient with all types of jutsu.
A good leader.
Could have been happy if not having to slaughter his clan.

But whether before or after slaughtering his clan im not sure.

Unfortunately he can't be Hokage because his an Uchiha. And i agree with saabirah. The coup had already been done before he can become a Kage.

If politics is not like that then he might be able to be a "Hokage"

1: Probably not because the Uchiha were hated, so imagine being black in a white racist town trying to be the mayor.

he did have everything necessary to come hokage, as a hokage he would have influence over any affairs in village, might just be things would been better.. but really the question is was itachi cut out to be hokage? he is allmost like a shaman he just know what would be best...but it is okay to forget morals?

There was actually his age to consider as well, he was 13-14 something which in the eyes of politic leaders would have been ridiculous. The majority of the village wasn´t fully aware of the discrimination against the Uchiha either so if a fully qualified Uchiha candidate were there only the Konoha Council would be a large obstacle for their distrust.
