could itachi have been hokage???

now this has most likely been said before but i cant find is here at least but i was thinking today

had itachi not massacred the uchiha and the coup not happen might the elders have nominated and selected itachi to be the 5th hokage after all he was renowned in the entire village for his overall prowess as a ninja it would seem like a logical choice instead of having to go find tsunade when a more than suitable replacement was in the village all along

note im not an itachi fanboy but i do think he could have made a suitable hokage

He would not have wanted to be Hokage, it's not like him. He silently helped the village as his life, without any recognition. He would help out the village as much as the hokage would, but would not want nor receive any recognition.

Hmm.. well the village never trusted the Uchiha, but Itachi killed the whole clan (with "little" help from Tobi) for it, so i think that they CAN.
