That's true but how many people you do you think can get close enough to defeat sasori when he has puppets out?

The answer is very simple if you think about it, Edo is much better and here are the reasons...
Edo's have a mind of their own while puppets do not, therefore an edo will have experience, wisdom, reflexes and knowledge etc that the puppet master may not have. A puppet is limited by how much the puppet master knows about the puppets abilities. If Sasori has a Madara puppet he wouldn't know anything about the rinnegan abilities, he wouldn't be summoning meteors from the sky etc.
A puppet also has limited range to however far the chakra string can be sent out and also the puppet master must also have vision of the area or he wouldn't be able to see anything since puppets do not provide vision for the user. An edo however can be summoned and sent anywhere in the world, they have no range limit and the controller of the jutsu could be hiding anywhere, there are no chakra strings to trace.
Puppets can be destroyed, Sakura and granny what's her face destroyed many puppets and Sasori was unable to summon any of them back, edo's however regenerate by themselves, they may even be used for suicide missions, such as when Deidara tried to blow himself up, if he succeeded he could simply be summoned again and repeat the process, if he was a puppet he would blow himself up and the puppet would be destroyed forever.
I'm sure there are many more reasons why edo's are better than puppets but this is what comes to thought to me straight away on the topic

If its edos vs human puppets edos will probably win because it takes a specific jutsu to beat them. If its in terms of destruction edos will take it if its 1 v 1 but since it takes more chakra to summon edos then to control human puppets you can use more which will make it about the same in terms if destructive power

No, Edo Tensei is far superior to Human Puppet Jutsu.
An Edo is as fast as he/she was in life, a Human Puppet is only as fast as the puppet master's moves.
Human Puppets can be destroyed multiple ways, mainly through sheer force, Edos can only be sealed or TnJ'd, and there are certain circumstances met with TnJ.
Puppets can't regenerate where Edos can.
Etc, etc.

puppets can be break easily look what Sakura did when she destroyed third Kazekage puppet
and when Sasori was trapped when she punched him in the face his face was a little broken

while edo tensei they can Regenerate

Edo's have a way longer range. Edo controller can hide in cave (like kabuto did).

Puppets are dependent on the chakra of the puppeteer. They have no where near the same endurance as edos. Edos can fight forever and not get tired.

Edos can be made super fast, all you need is a corpse. A puppet? You gotta build that thing and it takes time.

One basic offensive jutsu can destroy a puppet too. Edos just regenerate. Edos have actual human tactics. Puppets just float around and are too mechanical.

A puppet can be fast as well, and strong... Sasori wanted to make Sakura into one after seeing her superhuman strength.. meaning the puppet most likely does retain original characteristics like that as well...
