hashirama stomps
Yeah its only you buddy.
He would have stopped the paths before chou shinra tensei was used.Wow people, way to read the actual OP....:|
Unless hashi could tank a chou shinra tensei then konoha is getting blown to smithereens no matter what anybody says.
Sure hashi can win but who the f*ck said that konoha will be able to withstand their battle? Just look at the VoTE........

Besides if Hashirama is really the slug sage mode like your sig says, that means he can summon katsuya and did what Tsunade did.
You're forgetting something. Pain didnt use chou shinra tensei immediately after entering the village. He separated his paths and sent them out into different directions to create diversions, whilst interrogating the shinobi to find out Naruto's location. He only blew up the village after he found where Naruto was. If Hashirama was the kage at that time, he would have sent out mokuton bunshins, therefore Nagato wouldnt have discovered Naruto's location and he wouldnt have blown up the village.Point is that hashi has no technique that can stop this from happening

& what? There's absolutely no way that hashi could stop nagato before he pulls off that jutsu, unless hashi can miraculously fly.
Even a basic shinra tensei is enough to deflect any stray mokuton, preta path would stop the wood from spreading as well (It cant grow without chakra).
CST would be cast at some point in their battle, to say otherwise is illogical.
I hate how people automatically say "hashi stomps low diff" if its anybody except for edo madara...Hashi would have a tough time fighting an opponent with the rinnegan. Furthermore, hashi has no idea of the paths techniques, making it even harder for him to properly prep for a chou shinra tensei, let alone tank the full impact.

Correct me if am wrong but wasn't the original question if Hashirama was kage instead of Tsunade when Pain came looking for Naruto? You're forgetting something though, pein had no challenge until naruto arrived, naruto arrived after the village was destroyed, so pein had plenty of time, he was in no rush.
If pein was fighting an actual monster such as hashi during his invasion, then he would definitely go about destroying the village in a faster way, because he would be under a lot more pressure & he'd be pushed to his limit much faster.
Also another thing to remember, pein was separated because he was looking for naruto who wasnt even there. For argument's sake lets say that pein entered the village for the sole purpose of killing hashi, do you still believe that pein would search the city high & low? No of course not, the most likely scenario would be that hashi confronts him directly & they immediately engage in battle. During this battle it is certain that pein would use CST (why not) & when that move is cast then how can hashi stop the collateral damage?
I fully realize that nagato would most likely lose the battle, but the village would be no different than how it was after naruto's fight (bar a few tbb blasts).

I believe the OP was "could Hashi have stopped Pein?" Meaning he's talking about a specific event, but whatever. Even if Hashi stops chou shinra tensei, there will be considerable damage to the village from his own techniques. It was never really specified in the OP, im merely answering the question "can hashi stop nagato from destroying the leaf?", as in pein vs the leaf village with hashi as hokage.
Naruto is a variable. If we include him then the situation would be different & the core of the question isnt fully answered.
Hashirama would have stomped Pain to the ground.

^Hashirama=the man that makes the Kyuubi look like a toy.
While half of Kurama beat Pein.
One Mokuton technique destroys the village, the second one recreates it. :bI think everyone is forgetting something, the reason why Tsunade herself could not fight pein. The hokage cannot destroy the village in the midst of protecting it. Which means all of Hashirama's larger scale techniques are a no go.
What would have happened had Tsunade used her strength in the village. I'm not talking about part 1 strength even though that left Tanzuka fairly destroyed. One Mokuton technique destroys the village, the second one recreates it. :b
But that surely wasn't the reason Tsundade couldn't fight Pain, Pain just would've beaten her. The whole village was fighting Pain and it's normal that some sort of destruction is left to the village if the enemy invades its.
I guess it would be enough for Hashirama to send out a bunch of Mokuton Bunshins to stomp Pain, especially since the paths were spread across the village and most of them wouldn't stand a chance against Hashirama's clones in 1on1.
