Could Gaara beat Itachi?

Gaara in the desert would demolish Itachi, how can you not see that? Itachi's genjutsu is close ranged, Gaara is a long ranged fighter, and if he is in the desert, Itachi would just be childsplay for him. Gaara defeats most ninjas in a desert, Itachi is no exception to that.

I've seen alot of people say Gaara could beat Itachi but i'm not really sure myself. In a normal battlefield, I would say Itachi just about wins it. Even then Gaara has a big chance to win. In the desert I would say Gaara wins with low - mid diff, because he can fly etc and he has almost limitless sand. I don't think Itachi could keep up stamina wise. No eye contact if Gaara is high in the sky etc.

What do you guys think?

What is Itachi going to do when an ocean sized wave of sand is hurtling towards him? Block it with Sasunoo? How long can he do that? Itachi has the poorest stamina known to man, and Gaara is the exact opposite considering he's a former Jink.

Gaara's sand can block all of Itachi's jutsu: fire, water, etc. Amaterasu can be handled by Gaara's sand, it literally surrounds him, Tsukiyomi won't work due to distance, the sealing sword would be Gaara's only worry. This is just a bad match up for Itachi, I don't care how powerful he is. Gaara is no dim wit either, he singlehandedly defeated two kage.

You guys overestimate Itachi way too much. If he was fighting edo Itachi it would be a different story.

Susano'o and Yata Mirror will protect him for most of the time, and let's not forget, Itachi starts many of his fights with Genjutsu. A mere paralysis Genjutsu then all Itachi has to do to Gaara is do what he did to Oro.

This Is Possible . Ill Go With The Uchiha But there is still the fact that Gara can do what he did to Madara and pull him out . . .
