Could Gaara beat Itachi?

Well there's a lot of what-ifs in this. Lets say gaara's in the desert and he does the sphere of sand with the sand eye combo he did on sasuke part 1. Would genjutsu effect the sand eye? If it does can gaara just move the eye around rapidly and escape "eye" contact.

If this were true this would most certainly block out everything Itachi has EXCEPT Susanoo's offensive capabilities ( Sword of Totsuka and Yasaka Magatama) which most likely could break through gaara's sand.

BUT assuming gaara has enough time to react couldn't he use Shield of Shukaku? Would that even be enough to truly block Sword of Totsuka and Yasaka Magatama?

There's alot of things that we don't know for sure, but assuming all this is true it's certainly possible gaara could beat Itachi healthy, unhealthy, in the desert or in a big grassy field.

Also Itachi's Susanoo doesn't have bottom defense

In my scenario Gaara could win (in the desert). Just fly high, cover yourself with sand sphere (w/e it's called) and use third eye. Susano'o would protect him from huge sand wave but it doesn't have bottom defense. So Gaara could grab Itachi's feet at least.

Itachi got Yata Mirror, Yasaka Magatama probably can be throwed to Gaara even when he's in the sky.

In Kishi's scenario, Itachi would win. Hate to say it but genjutsu hacks.

Sand armor / distance > amaterasu (i know some people like to think amaterasu doesnt have to travel but it does) gaara blocked sasukes ama..

sits up in the air in a sand sphere spams sand rain / sand tsunami.

gaara can drag itachi out of susano in any terrain.

Equal intelligence wise gaara just has a more than overwhelming advantage as hes long distance and easily counters everything itachi has.

totsuka + yata... wont be of much use against gaara as susano is slow as shit and wont be able to touch gaara.

Pretty sure gaaras new gold infused sand would hold susano there no problems at all anyway easy fight tbh.

Fanboys will disagree because 90% of the base would give up there real life family for itachi (an anime character) and think itachi's susano is godmode like madara's. Not even close..

All in all Gaara > Itachi low / med dif.

gaara won the whole fight vs deidara... he was standing over his corpse the victor..

Kishi had to add storyline to help naruto grow and show the bond between sand / leaf after the time skip.

Magically a few little beasties blew up on his back etc etc etc..

gaaras sand held his father, a raikage and a mizukage down and he almost solo'd all 3 of them?
Anyone who compares itachi to gaara, gaara's dad, raikage, mizukage is a moron and needs to mature a little in the brain.

I've seen alot of people say Gaara could beat Itachi but i'm not really sure myself. In a normal battlefield, I would say Itachi just about wins it. Even then Gaara has a big chance to win. In the desert I would say Gaara wins with low - mid diff, because he can fly etc and he has almost limitless sand. I don't think Itachi could keep up stamina wise. No eye contact if Gaara is high in the sky etc.

What do you guys think?

Deidara beat Gaara because of his speed and agility. There's no way itachi could dodge as much sand as he did. I'll admit Itachi's one of the greatest but I have to say he's at a loss here.

gaara's large scale attacks would be useless against yata mirror.
yata mirror has the ability to change its form and characteristics to counter any attack making it useless, so a sand attack coming behind itachi would be useless because yata mirror can block it. itachi basically has a 360 degree defense.

itachi lifts a finger, literally and its over. no eye contact is needed. unless the sand can break gaara out of tsukyomi, its really over for him...the brute force of waves of sand wont matter much, itachi is tactical, efficient and resourceful, we have not seen anyone have an easy time facing off with him, even while he was ill and if he was able to find his way around a rinnegan user, then i doubt gaara would be that big of a trouble. its not a wealth of power that makes itachi the problem, its his tactical skills, and as we have seen more often than not, he carefully plans then excecutes, even in the midst of a fight.
