Could DBS Gohan still be "redeemed"?

Many people were disapointed with the direction Dragon Ball Suoer has decided to take Gohan's character. I for one, can't help but kinda frown seeing my favourite character in DBZ being pushed to fodder, even though that's what his character was leading to since the very start.

He is shown with SOME potential however, being the one to take down Ginyu when all the other Z Fighters other than Goku and Vegeta had failed. The question thus is, could there be some kind of pseudo return to what he was back in DBZ in the future of Dragon Ball Super, even if its just for a single fight or so? What do you think?

The power levels in DBS are way too high for Gohan to catch up too, imo. Not only does he not have the power to fight against the gods of the series like Goku or Vegeta, but he's so behind on his training he can't even maintain a form that Trunks and Goten can enter in with zero effort. His character is too far gone. :dunno:

The only redemption I see Gohan getting is if he sacrifices himself to defend the planet or his family in one final stand off against a villain, on some Vegeta shit.

Well, Trunks is pretty far from them too, yet he's having his own moment in the spotlight right now. I think its possible for something at least similar to happen to Gohan.

If you think Gohan got "ruined" only because he got weak and doesn't want to fight, then you never were a real fan of this character to begin with. I've read so many times from so-called "Gohan fans" how they whine about Gohan not being as powerful and "badass" as he was in the Cell-arc.

But the truth is pretty simple. Those people just do not understand the character at all and never did.

I don't think he was ruined, but the exact thing that attracted me the most to his character is the hidden power inside someone that just doesn't want to fight. In the end he just got what he wanted and became a scholar, but it is a bit sad as a Gohan fan to see him being brought down to fodder levels because of it, even though its understandable why it happened.

I disagree. One aspect of the problem that fans have with Gohan is him being weak and not having the desire to fight, but the main issue is that their favorite character has lost all of his relevancy within the dragon ball series and has been placed with likes of characters like Yamcha, Piccolo, and Krillin. And there's no problem with people saying his character got ruined cause he got weak, because it's true. This isn't Berserk, or Hunter x Hunter, where a character can be weak, but still hold relevance to the narrative of the story.

Dragon Ball has never been a complex series and probably never will be. Basically, if you're strong you get screen time/panel time, if you're not so strong, or weak, a majority of your existence in the series will be narrating and commentating on fights. And seeing as how Gohan has a family to take care of, I doubt you'll be seeing him on the sidelines of any fights soon.

TL;DR version GOHANS CHARACTER GOT RUINED

If Gohan develops a hidden potential to sense God ki he can catch up. Its literally the only way.

The way his character has been treated lately is kinda sad in a way. He was at one point the strongest Z fighter. Now if you look at him he is a fodder character with zero to like about him. His DBS character is very corny.

Some would say he is in a better place now, but they seriously got to be joking. It was never Gohan's dream to be a scholar it was his mother's. He should have remained training while working on his education. I would have liked him to be a genius fighter who could blow away opponents with stronger power levels. He would have been a breed that this show is desperately missing. Someone who could use his brain instead of his brawns.

He never liked fighting and he was always hitting the books, the only other thing he likes hitting is Videl and that's it, he is not a fighter, people should forget his character period.

Whats the point? He still fcked up when he was actually strong (cell, super buu) no way of him catching up without it being asspull either, just leave him be.

He still has a chance. Vegeta even claims that ge has the most potential out of all of them.

Trunks is far away, but he would whoop Gohan's ass, and he hasn't been slacking on training, he's probably gonna get stronger pretty soon. I can't see them make Vegeta get mad at him for thinking he won't need to fight black, and then not have Trunks have a hand in his defeat.

As for Gohan's potential, asspull or not, he could just train where Whis took Goku and Vegeta. He may have lost some ground but he still has the most potential. And they did make him show a little interest in training before tournament against universe 7. So I think the chance is definitely still there

Yes. But definitely not in this arc. The future trunks arc, even has a chapter foreshadowing Gohan is not coming back.

But i could see 2 more arcs after this, the zeno tournament and the final one. Gohan pretty much seemed fodder on DBZ's last episode, that's located after this arc. So, if Zeno's tournament is AFTER Uub's introduction, then Gohan could even come back at Zeno's tournament, who knows.

If the last chapter of DBS is BEFORE Uub, then no, Gohan will be fodder during all of super.

My problem with gohan isn't simply because he got weak, It's just that he hasn't learn't from his past experiences and how he got weak. If he kept up his training but still looked weak next to Vegeta/Goku i wouldn't mind since at least he his trying and doing everything in his power to keep his friends and family safe.

I know it was in Gohan's character to want a life outside of fighting and his dislike for fighting but i was hoping he would see that it's not about what he wants. He should've learn't this in the Cell and Buu saga.
It's not about if he likes fighting or not, it's about gohan doing what needs to be done, Regardless if he likes doing it or not and not doing it for himself but his friends and family.

Gohan....I had high hopes for the character. I blame ChiChi for forcing scholarly pursuits on him. The sad part is, we may never see him realize his full potential. The question Ive always had was who is stronger - a pure Sayian or a Sayian/Human from earth hybrid. I thought Gohan was the answer the way Z was playing out. But it would appear that DB Super put the kibosh on that.

My new hope - Goten!!! I dont think Goten is gonna be much of a scholar, so hopefully he wants to fight like his old man!
