Re: Correlation between "African Americans" and Safest Cities - Very Interesting Data
YO just let it be known ahead of time Aim, I got nothing against you and don't take any of this personally, I prefer to keep peace with peeps.
Perhaps you missed the part where he said that not all of those people of dark skin hail from that culture.
You want to see black culture? Look at Ferguson.
If you really want the bottom line of what black culture has become - it is victim-whoring. Do anything, say anything - just to make sure you can say that your problems are because of someone else.
We can throw gangs and hip-hop in there, as well - just for good measure.
Now, that said - blacks can take charge of their culture at any given time and change it. "Black culture" was actually a very regimented view of the 'classic family' back in the 40s and 50s - marriage rates among blacks were higher than they were for whites, the number of children born out of wedlock was far lower, and there was a much smaller gap in the average employment figures. Fewer blacks were living below the poverty level and blacks prided themselves on being able to keep a clean house and yard.
While I know there are black families who still hold to that - they are no longer the majority of black households and have fallen into a disturbingly small minority.
The average black raised in an inner-city school lives in tenement housing with an aloof father among neighbors who continually tell the kids that they will 'always be held down' by 'white people.' The music that commonly plays glorifies the gang culture and quite a few of them likely know a friend or two who have been shot amidst gang wars.
Again - look at Ferguson.
While there has been a lot of out-of-state instigation going on, there - it's obvious there are very real problems sourced at the community that is predominantly black and exhibits the stereotypes of modern 'black culture.'
"if you really want the bottom line of what black culture has become - it is victim-whoring. Do anything, say anything - just to make sure you can say that your problems are because of someone else."
You serious man?
The average black raised in a tenement is not the average or even the whole representative of African american culture, they are part of african american culture. 27 %. That's far from being a majority. They are not the WHOLE of it... If you are using that to back up you're point pfft........ Cm'on son....
and Do not tell me where to see black culture, I grew up in a neighborhood close to 70 % percent african american population.
Your opinion on hip hop is ill-informed and in experienced. No offense.
What else would you call it?
There are many different types of African Americans living in this country, just cause some of us don't subscribe to a culture of IGNORANCE, does not make our culture "Not" african American......
Even saying elements of African American culture, would be more merited. But by alone saying african american culture? Lol. Nah.
IF you are going to label something "African AMerican" You better make damn sure it holds true for everyone in the culture. If so, point to me where this one black or even white culture exists, explain how and why Blacks from Louisiana should be considered historically and culturally exactly the same as blacks living in New York. What you and Vapid are describing, is not African American culture, It's really a culture of ignorance. Blacks are not the only ones who subscribe to it, there are people of all races who fit your ideal of blacks, that "Thug" stereotype. The ones who are criminals, deal drugs, are in gangs, sag their pants, listen to trap music etc. etc...
