Sasuke: …what's with you, just acting on the defensive?
Keep being passive and you'll end up dead.

Naruto:………
Naruto:... I'm not willing to kill you...

Sasuke: ………

Naruto: when you're going off by yourself again…

The Japanese word Sasuke used is "Ukemi" 受け身 meaning "passive", Naruto is being passive in their fight.

In the end it basically has the same meaning.

Passive: accepting or allowing what happens or what others do, without active response or resistance.

Slacking (off):negligent; careless; remiss

They are different as seen above. Intent is the difference. One means choosing not to react, the other is not reacting due to inability.

Cognitively? No! There is room for error.
That explains 90% of the threads that are (being) posted on this site.

And to be honest, I'd rather prefer the correct translation instead of a crappy "it has the same meaning".

I don't see the difference everyone knows what it meant. Naruto has been the same way since part 1.

Yes. Thank you. I took 8th grade English. Hence, "basically." This isn't some 180 degree flip in meaning, it's supplemental to the overall theme of the conversation we already know.

No genius they are not basically the same. It is a difference in intent, I'm sorry you are wrong, but go away.

Inability=/= Choice.
