You have to look so deep into the news to hear a 'quirky fun' story about a huge scientific breakthrough in our world these days.

Whilst i'm not calling reality tv, celebrity gossip, sports, tv&film and politics unimportant (...they're literally what we've decided to found our culture of today on) Why is revolutionary, genuinely impressive stuff about our world so pushed away?

Did you know that in the last 10 years we've found that:

  • You must be registered for see images

  • We did not domesticate wolves and their progression into dogs to become a more friendly species has CHANGED EVOLUTION and now as other animals follow their lead, the entire world could be in natural harmony. No predators or hunted. We could all peacefully co-exist.

  • Overexerting yourself doing exercise even by a little creates about as much progress physically as a guy who sits around all day doing nothing.

  • Earth is headed for it's 6th great extinction event.

  • Laser trains exist now. That's a thing.

  • Uni of Bristol have created invisible objects you can touch. The first steps to the holodeck technology.

  • Researchers can literally print DNA now and so entirely new species technically can and have been created.

  • We have in our possession, the most preserved mammoth ever. And the near-technology to clone it. Should we?

  • Hoverboards exist.

  • Scientists have finished work on a drug that can slow time down in the thought process of a person. Meaning criminals and/or great minds have the potential to have multiple lifetimes of thought to solve humanity's problems!?

WHY DO WE AS A SOCIETY NOT ALL KNOW THIS. Even the recent Mission to Mars is surprisingly being kept low-key. Why are we scared/unwilling to learn about our world?

Science is one of the greatest things that humanity has created. We can even say that science is the pure desire of human beings to know a lot more. There is always this story when you are lying on the grass at night, staring at the stars you will ask yourself...what can be up there? What is this? What it that?

We are species that live through asking, that live through knowing. We were since the first time curious, we invented many things just by being curious. But this culture is just changing tides. I feel like science is totally unimportant now, leading humans believe that other people will deal with this. Technology is taking over so much that we will let it study for us. Smart technology in a dumb society. Then there are other problems like religion...I just don't know.

The only thing I would ask for from anyone...Is that this world is a beautiful place, and that everything...truly everything you want can be possible and there is a way to make it work in this universe with Science. This is what people strive for...Knowledge.

I knew all of that. Though I don't buy the first one since evolution is a theory. To bad all of this knowledge will be loat forever when the earth gets hit by an asteroid.

Well said man, people dress science up as people in lab coats and this weird sub-section of life but it is...EVERY THING. It is the stuff we stand on. I genuinely don't see how people aren't interested by something as all-encompassing as science. At the very least, interesting science stories like this.

Why are they always pushed away though? Why isn't this stuff public knowledge?

The general public doesn't care about it that's why.

It is known by those who want to know. But people have different interests. Some just want to know what Kim Kardashian had for dinner more than what new particle was discovered. Even if that was the particle which allows magic to exist for the vaguest example...

It entirely depends on the people, and what they want to do. And let me be honest, the way that humans think nowadays is far from how it was, they just want a better living for themselves and have fun. Forgetting that learning is a ton more fun. School does very bad here BTW, the way that the teachers make everything sound is pretty boring, for something so exciting it would certainly make your jaw drop. The world of knowing things is just so huge you can't believe it, and the most fun way if you ask me, is go through youtube before, picking up. MinutePhysics, Vsauce, Veritasium, CGP Grey, Sixty Symbols, Brain Scoop, Smarter Everyday, ASAP Science. Or lightning I ****ing love science on Facebook. They share news about science world everyday.

Why are we scared/unwilling to learn about our world?

Same reason why 50 shades of gray is more popular than Foundation series.

See, things seem hard and complicated looking from outside. That's why we prefer/thought to go the easy way. We say things like "primarily learn whatever school gives you", "boys don't cry", "you can't wear that", "don't get into political discussions", "obey", "art is worthless since you won't earn money much", "if you feed animals they will never let you go so don't feed them", "Blacks/ whites/arabs/asians etc. are garbage", "men are rapists", "women are asking for it", "you are too young/old for doing that" and countless other things since we are young so we get conditioned to the fear of unknown and being lazy.

Cuz being lazy and just living through seems the easier way. Some don't know the planets in solar sysyem but they can name all the Khardashians.

The news sections in mainstream media is like "shit happened celebrity showed a bra strap lol more shit happened daily reminder that you have to hate this particular group of people more lols and penguins the end"

K im stopping now.

OT:They also made darkest black ever:

It looks like an endless hole appearantly.

World harmony is a nice idea but only the naive believe it would ever happen. There will always be those who hurt and kill others, whether it is a human or animal.

Perfect co-habitation, at the least. Every violent animal unwilling to adapt to our society will and ARE dying out currently and the friendlier, less sharp successors of today's animals will love alongside us, with us (as pets) and/or be assigned jobs like dogs currently have. (guide dogs, airport scouts, police dogs etc)

Curiosity is natural but when you say science many see it as different thing like saying science cant answer everything,it is evil blah blah, it becomes a threat for their false reality. Also people have their own stuff to solve, and many such things have a little effect on their life, so they found a frozen mammoth? okay but that does not solve my financial problems. They don't care like when there is a power outage and it comes back they pray to god, they do not care that some guys were working their ass off to repair it. Society always lives off on the benefits of the science on so many things indirectly or breakthrough of one scientist but they can get bat shit crazy over T shirts and constantly refuse to do most obvious of the things which should not be done.

The same reason it always is, the majority of people are too insecure to admit there's things they don't know and don't understand.

[*]Laser trains exist now. That's a thing.
Yea I saw that, the military has been working on some, anyone else waiting for their lightsaber?

[*]We have in our possession, the most preserved mammoth ever. And the near-technology to clone it. Should we?
I smell Jurassic Park

[*]Hoverboards exist.
Robert Zemekis told us that in the 80's, everybody thought he was joking.(ok not everybody a lot of people believed him)

They talked about the mission a year or so ago when they started organizing it, now it must be getting closer to fruition so it's getting some buzz again.

That won't ever happen. Life needs to consume life to live.

The only hover boards I've seen are the ones that need a metal ground to use.....such old tech isn't something I'll find interesting .

In an extremely controlled environment, sure. The same way dog food works.

I'm not sure how old your are but it's pretty clear to me that you don't understand how the world is. There will never be a time in any era of life on this planet where all animals and all humans live together without conflict. Perfect harmony and world peace are pipe dreams. There will always be someone or some animal that will kill for one reason or another.

@bolded

Even if it is a canned food for all, it would still require the death of an animal or other form of life to make the food. How is it harmony if we still have to kill them?
