Part 1 took place over an entire year. At the end of part 1 Naruto and Sasuke were 13 and Itachi had turned 18. 5 years before is when the Uchiha Massacre occured, which puts Itachi at 13-14 when he joined Akatsuki, then kicked Orochimaru out.

That plot hole is no different from Hashirama remembering Tsunade, when he shouldn't even know who she is.
