Is kishi just making stuff up as he goes

I think that the Beast didn't know the sons, that the Beast are reminded of the SO6P because Naruto genuinely cares about them and brought them all back together with the goal of peace, and mostly it's probably a bit of Kishi going with things as they roll.

naruto has been compared to many characters throughout the manga like minato, kushina, jiraiya and hashirama, by different people yet all these people are different from each other in so many ways

while naruto's life is similar to ashura he is also similar to the sage because he is the

-first person since sage to earn the trust of all bijuus
-first person since sage to have all the bijuu chakra inside him
-first person since sage to distribute his chakra among the people

Well yeah I didn't think he meant personality wise though. They just had things in common like they were both losers and rely on their friends for power.

Excluding personality we've seen Naruto share things in common with the sage (even the beasts say Naruto reminds them of him)

Which leads to my original question, why can't he be like both?

And like i said SO6P doesnt act like Naruto and he has both the eyes and body unlike naruto who has just the body
Also they dont rely on friends for like help in battle but just moral support

Well, yes naruto embodies both since so far we haven't gotten any hints that the ashura had friendship with the bijuus, something only the sage had.

Yeah it's a contradiction. Shukaku said his first Jinchuuriki the old man reminded him of Rikudo, it's a plot hole that old man isn't Rikudo reincarnated. :|

Its because the sympathy shown by the sage towards the bijus was adopted from the ideas of cooperations by the younger son.
