Another great day to ask NB members of their opinion regarding the importance of contract seal. No flaming please. Let us vote on what we really know and what was really shown in the manga.

Contract Seal: Defined as a fuinjutsu that can remove any direct control the summoner has over a summoned creature.

The contract seal was first used by Minato during his fight against Tobi. Let's go back to that scene and see what it can really do.

It's pretty clear that Kurama was being controlled by means of Sharingan's genjutsu, right? I hope no one disagree with this. It was the sharingan's genjutsu (particularly MS) that was responsible for the control of Kurama. No other method was used to control Kurama as shown above.

Since the sharingan's genjutsu was used to control Kurama and the contract seal was able to remove the control over kurama, is it safe to say that a contract seal can remove the sharingan's ability to cast genjutsu when it is already placed on the user?

Let's consider this: If Tobi can control Kurama again on that time after the seal was placed, what's stopping him from doing it again?

Why called it a seal if it can't really seal a particular ability on that particular time?

Again, the question is: Can a contract seal remove the sharingan's ability to cast genjutsu when it is already placed on the user on that particular time?

Thanks for reading...:)

Minato canceled the genjutsu Tobi used on Kurama, he didn't make his genjutsu skills unusable.

True. Minato cancelled the genjutsu used to control Kurama. If that ability was sealed on that time, how can someone use it again? Let's focus on that particular time the contract seal was placed.

I would say so. Minato is a boss though, so it wouldn't surprise me if he somehow altered the contract seal to cancel things like genjutsu as well.

all i know is that it removes the control a user will have over someone so in theory you should be able to remove control of an edo from the summoner

Minato wasn't the first to use, I think Mito did it before

Never thought of it this way. Makes Minato a bigger badass than he already is.

I'd have to say no. I think the genjutsu that was cast on Kurama just happened to cancel since his contract was broken. It wasn't that the contract seal directly cancelled it, it was simply a result of what he did. I think Tobi could have recast his genjutsu, but he realized he was beaten by Minato and abandoned the idea.

i dont think you can recast it until you brake the seal as it would be a pointless jutsu if the user can just recast there control

Since it was labelled as a seal then it's obvious that it can seal a particular ability once being used. In Tobi's case, his sharingan genjutsu was cancelled on that particular time when the seal was placed. So, if it was able to break the sharingan's genjutsu then it's pretty obvious to me that once the seal is placed, the users ability to use sharingan's genjutsu on that particular time is taken away.
