Greetings, one and all. I, like many other members of NarutoBase, have a Custom Fighting Style, but there is a problem with the style. I've only been able to come up with nine (9) techniques for the style, which has an allotted ten (10) spaces. Due to this, I have decided to hold a contest with the first and only prize being that the winner can be the first person to learn my style. Below is the description of the style, the currently-approved jutsu, and the pending techniques, followed by the description of the contest.

Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu (The Nine Verses of Shakujo)
Type: NinKenjutsu
Background: The Sage of Six Paths was a wandering monk who carried with him a type of staff known as a Shakujo. The Shakujo was a staff, normally used as a walking stick, with one end consisting of a large circle with other rings placed on the circle. As the Sage was preaching his teachings of chakra and ninjutsu, a small group of students noticed that the Sage carried with him his Shakujo, and were inspired to follow the path of the great man who was teaching them. The group of students each fashioned their own Shakujo and practiced their usage of hand-to-hand combat along with the usage of chakra, as taught to them by the Sage of Six Paths. While training for combat with the Shakujo, one of the members of the group discovered that by channeling his chakra through the staff, he could manipulate the rings on the end of his staff. Utilizing this new discovery, the group of men developed a fighting style based upon utilizing their chakra with their Shakujo. They then taught this style of fighting to others, who passed it down for generations.
After the first generation of Shakujo users passed on, the second generation began to notice a pattern in the people they met on their travels. It appeared that each one of them used ranged applications of chakra, allowing them to fight at a distance so as to preserve their bodies and health. This second generation of Shakujo users, scared at the fact that all practitioners of chakra they had met were either soldiers or soldiers-in-training, left the way of the monk. No longer were they to be peaceful, but instead the Shakujo users went into practice to make their fighting style more versatile. It was the third generation who eventually discovered that chakra, in concentrated amounts, could cause a ring to simply move through the Shakujo to which it was bound, and cause the ring to float in the air around them. This gave birth to a new fighting style based upon a Shakujo's rings as controlled projectiles. As the generations advanced further and further, the style became more and more refined, slowly becoming the powerful style it is now.

Description on the Abilities and Inner Workings of the Style: Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu is a fighting style based around manipulating the rings of a Shakujo with chakra for both offensive and defensive purposes. The way the user manipulates their rings generally fall into one of two main categories:
Bound Style - The Bound Style of The Nine Verses of Shakujo is based around the use of a Shakujo's rings while bound to the Shakujo. The user uses the staff itself as a regular staff while using the rings on it to augment attacks. By manipulating the rings with their chakra, the user can create multiple desirable effects such as rotating the rings at speeds great enough to allow them to cut clean through solid objects, causing the rings to clasp down on a sword so as to prevent its movement, among other uses.
Ranged Style - The Ranged Style of The Nine Verses of Shakujo is slightly more unorthodox than the Bound Style, and was developed after the first generation of Shakujo users had passed away. This style allows the user to fill each of the rings of their Shakujo with their chakra, and then cause the rings to separate from the staff and to hover in their air of their own accord. The user's chakra is constantly being drawn into the rings as they float in order to keep them suspended in the air, and as such, each ring is capable of generating chakra seemingly from itself, while actually being the user's chakra sent to it through the air. The floating rings can then be manipulated by specific techniques to achieve effects such as deflecting projectiles, joining together to form a shield, and many other uses. Because of the users of this style being drawn towards power and being able to fight at distances rather than up close, the Ranged Style has been preferred over the Bound Style, and as such has been perfected with many more techniques designed for it than the counterpart.

While both forms of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu draw from the user's chakra reserve, the Ranged Style is more prominently ninjutsu-based, while the Bound Style is based off of the mechanics of kenjutsu.
Example Techniques:
(Saisho no Uta: Kaiten Burēdo) - First Verse: Rotating Blades
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user channels their chakra through their Shakujo, which causes the loose rings at the end of their staff to appear to "stand up", as if they were repelled by some force at the center of the ring which binds them to the staff. Each ring then begins to spin at high speeds, and as each ring spins the sheer speed the metal material gains appears to give it a sharp quality, allowing the spinning rings to easily cut through C-rank and below Wood Style techniques, and even more solid materials such as Earth Style and steel swords or Steel Style.
Note: ~Can only be taught by the owner of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
~Can only cut C-rank and below techniques and objects without chakra

(Saisan no Uta: Dansu Ringu) - Third Verse: Dancing Rings
Rank: C
Type: Offensive | Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 15 (-5 per turn)
Damage Points: 30
Description: The user channels their chakra through the rings of the Shakujo and causes the rings to separate from the main staff and float around themselves. The user can then manipulate the six rings in the air to deflect average weapons or to advance on the opponent and spin to cut them with the sharpness of an average sword. Each ring individually has no more strength than a freeform kunai, but they may be manipulated freely and can hang in the air as the user performs other techniques.
Note: ~Can only be taught by the owner of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
~Lasts 3 turns, or until the user calls the rings back to their Shakujo

(Saishū-Tekina Uta: Rengoku) - Final Verse: Purgatory
Rank: Forbidden
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 50
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user releases the rings of their Shakujo, which leave the main staff and fly through the air, each to a separate location in order to create a sort of "box" around the user and his opponent. Then, each ring will begin to spin and release the user's chakra from itself, the chakra being drawn to the four rings immediately adjacent to it (chakra will not travel from, say, the ring to the left relative the user, to the right relative the user) in order to form a barrier in the form of a black sphere of chakra around the user and his opponent. While inside the barrier, the only techniques which can be used are those which originate from the user; earth release techniques that manipulate the ground, water release techniques which require a water source, and wind release techniques which manipulate the wind in the atmosphere are a few examples of techniques which cannot be used within the barrier. The user may also manipulate the barrier to rotate or roll at their will, allowing the user to spin the barrier in order to shift either their own or their opponent's position (assuming their standing on the barrier's surface) in order to dodge to be hit by attacks. The sphere can move so fast that techniques which aren't large-scale can easily be avoided by simply adjusting the barrier's, and therefore the people standing on the surface of the barrier's, position.
Note: ~Can only be taught by the owner of the Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu style
~Must be a practitioner of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu for at least two months before learning the Final Verse
~Only lasts 2 turns
~The barrier can only be destroyed by a Forbidden-ranked technique shot at the barrier, meaning all other techniques are contained within the barrier, making wide-scale attacks dangerous for the user as well as the defender
~Can only be used one per battle
~When the barrier disappears, the Shakujo's rings shatter, making it impossible for the user to use Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu for the rest of the battle
You must be registered for see images
Additional effects and Restrictions: -Can passively control the rings while bound to the Shakujo, not floating, in free-form
-The Ranged Style of the Nine Verses of Shakujo is bound by techniques, making it impossible for the rings to separate from the Shakujo without a jutsu
-Must have mastered kenjutsu
-Must have at least begun Ninjutsu and mastered the Tree Climbing and Water Walking exercises for proper chakra control

Sharingdork, our loyal member, gave on the 5th of February 2014 a request for a Patent on custom fighting style (Shakujo's no Kyū-Setsu ) Nine Verses of Shakujo. I, Madāra Uchiha of the Custom Fighting Style Bureau, by the power invested in me by Caliburn, after reading the submission, have decided that the submitted style satisfies all requirements, and am therefore giving him rightfully earned patent on this style by the following;

Shakujo's no Kyū-Setsu | Nine Verses of Shakujo

You must be registered for see images

Rank: B
Type: Offensive | Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user channels their chakra through their Shakujo, which causes the loose rings at the end of their staff to appear to "stand up", as if they were repelled by some force at the center of the ring which binds them to the staff. With each individual ring flattening against the fixture they're bound to on the end of the staff (so that it looks similar to the picture below, with no overlapping rings), each ring then begins to spin at high speeds. As each ring spins the sheer speed the metal material gains appears to give it a sharp quality, allowing the spinning rings to easily cut through C-rank and below Wood Style techniques, and even more solid materials such as Earth Style and steel swords or Steel Style. Kenjutsu of any rank may be used with the "sharp", spinning rings, but if a section of the staff rather than the rings makes contact with something, obviously there will be no cutting power.
Note: ~Can only be taught by the master of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
~Can only cut C-rank and below techniques and objects without chakra

Rank: C
Type: Offensive | Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15 (-5 per turn)
Damage Points: 30
Description: The user channels their chakra through the rings of the Shakujo and causes the rings to separate from the main staff and float around the stationary ring which previously bound them. The user can then manipulate the six rings in the air to deflect average and basic chakra-infused weapons, the ring returning to the staff on its own afterwards. Each ring individually has no more strength than a freeform, chakra-infused kunai, but they may be manipulated freely and can hang in the air around the Shakujo as the user performs other techniques.
Note: ~Can only be taught by the master of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
~Lasts 3 turns, or until the user calls the rings back to their Shakujo

Rank: A
Type: Defense | Supplementary
Range: Short (of user)
Chakra Cost: 30 (-10 per turn)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user, after either having their rings already released from the Shakujo for a separate technique, or by releasing them specifically for this technique, will have each ring align itself in a hexagonal formation in front of them. The rings will then release chakra from themselves towards the other rings, creating a thin barrier of condensed chakra with advanced enough shape manipulation that the barrier can withstand up to A-rank attacks. The barrier may be adjusted as the user wishes, gesturing with the staff portion of their Shakujo where the rings, and by extension the barrier, will move, and can even be used to lift the user into the air and hover so long as they wish. The barrier's diameter is wider than the user's height by only a few inches.
Note: ~Can only be taught by the master of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu

Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description: Building upon the Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu, the user will release the rings from their Shakujo (or manipulate them once already released) towards the opponent. Then the user will strike the ground with the Shakujo's staff and clap the fist holding their Shakujo with their free hand. After making the improvised handseal, the rings will multiply and create a large wall of thousands of rapidly rotating projectile rings flying towards the opponent. After the barrage of rings, all but six will disappear, and those six will fly back to the Shakujo, reconnecting and falling limp afterwards.
Note: ~Can only be taught by the master of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
~Can only be used twice per battle
~The user cannot use any Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu techniques for two turns after using this jutsu

Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Range: Mid-Long
Chakra Cost: 30 (-5 per turn)
Damage Points: 60
Description: The user will release the rings from their Shakujo (or manipulate them further if they're already released), and will send the rings into the sky. From there, the rings will all begin to spin as the user channels his Katon chakra into the rings. As the rings spin, they will generate a multitude of small fireballs, about the size of a ping-pong ball, which will fly in every direction and rain down on the ground. Due to the spacing of the rings and the range of the fireballs from each ring, the only safe place is a meter radius circle around the Shakujo's staff, which will cause the floating rings to move with it (meaning if the user, holding the staff, walks forwards, the rings above will move so that the user remains safe). When the technique ends, the rings will remain in the air for a second after they finish spewing flames before returning to the Shakujo.
Note: ~Can only be taught by the master of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
~Can only be used twice per battle
~Requires two turn minimum in between usages
~Lasts 3 turns, or until canceled
~The user can only use Katon and chakraless techniques while active

Rank: S
Type: Offensive | Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 40 (-5 per sphere per turn) (-20 per sphere regeneration)
Damage Points: 80
Description: The user, after having the rings of their Shakujo separated either from an earlier technique or specifically for this jutsu, will have their rings begin to spin, but differently than normal. Normally, the rings spin along their own circular formation, which would make the ring appear to not be moving at all if one doesn't look closely. This is normally done to make the edges hot with friction and cause it to gain a type of cutting quality. The Kāma-Dhātu has the rings spin on a different axis so quickly that it almost looks like they've formed into small spheres instead of being simply rings from the blurring effect from the high-speed rotation (as if you took a ring or coin and spun it on its side on a table top) [see video below for further explanation]. As the rings spin, the users chakra is sent out to each ring equally and creates a field of chakra around the outside of each ring. As the rings spin, they move at a speed so fast that the chakra cannot cling to the physical being of the ring effectively, which creates a drag-like effect where the chakra from each ring is curved to such a high degree that the other end of the ring connects with the chakra "flowing" from the opposite end, creating a true sphere of chakra surrounding the spinning rings. Each sphere may then be controlled individually with strength granted by the constantly-rotating spheres of chakra equal to a B-rank technique of any element. When these spheres are damaged by C-rank and below techniques, the user may send more chakra to the damaged sphere to regenerate it and raise its strength back up to B-rank.
Note: ~Can only be taught by the master of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
~Can only be used twice per battle
~Must wait a three turn gap between uses
~Rings may return to the Shakujo at any time. Rings are forced to return if damaged by a B-rank technique. If they are damaged by an A-rank or above technique, the user must physically collect the ring as it can't "fly" back to the user being out of chakra
~Regeneration of spheres is a choice of the user's and counts as a move of their turn . Returning to the Shakujo staff if damaged by a C-rank or under technique (including no damage) is also a choice but doesn't count as a move. Rings which are returned to the staff or are damaged by A-rank and above techniques no longer count to the "-5 per sphere per turn" chakra cost

Rank: S
Type: Offensive | Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 40
Damage Points: 80
Description: The user, either by manipulating his rings as they are floating or by separating them from his staff first, will cause the six rings to touch together, transferring all of their chakra to a single ring. This ring will then emit a chakra coating over itself as it spins, the chakra acting to help protect and strengthen the ring. The single ring, carrying the chakra of the other five, will then be able to move faster than an average kunai with as much precision as the user wishes, controlling it's direction with the end of their Shakujo. The ring may pierce through up to A-rank techniques without so much as losing momentum due to its small size, high rotation speed, and powerful protective chakra coating, allowing it to pierce through a great deal of defenses to pierce an opponent's body. Even if the opponent dodges, the user can control the direction of the ring with their empty Shakujo. The user may also, as all the chakra is transferred to a single ring, choose to imbue said ring with an elemental nature, giving it the strengths and weaknesses of said nature, as well as basic effects of the element on contact with an opponent (burning with fire, cutting with wind, numbing with lightning, etc.). When the technique has ended, the user must touch each of the fallen rings with their Shakujo to recollect them, as they have lost their chakra.
Note: ~Can only be taught by the master of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
~Can only be used once per battle
~The user cannot use any other jutsu while controlling the rings.
~If elemental natures are imbued, then jutsu above S rank for that element cannot be used next turn.
~No Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu techniques may be used for two turns after this technique's usage

Rank: D-Forbidden
Type: Defensive | Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 10 (per ring)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The Forgotten Second Verse is a technique of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu lost in time. After stumbling across an ancient scroll, the current master of the style rediscovered the secret technique, and took to mastering it right away. The technique itself is divided into two parts. The first part has the user channel chakra into the rings on their Shakujo. As each ring is filled with chakra, the second part of the technique becomes more powerful. The second part of the Forgotten Second Verse has the user strike the butt of the Shakujo's staff into the ground, after which the stored chakra in the rings is released in an omnidirectional burst of invisible (to the naked eye) chakra. When the chakra makes contact with a technique, the chakra in the technique will be disrupted and canceled, ending the jutsu. For every ring that had stored chakra, the rank of technique it can disrupt is increased (D for 1 ring, C for 2, B for 3, A for 4, S for 5, and Forbidden for 6). If the Forgotten Second Verse disrupts a technique of lower rank than it's potential, it continues to disrupt a second technique of the appropriate rank (according to NarutoBase's system for how powerful a weakened technique is). While the chakra burst has no direct effect on humans, clones, summons, and the like, the user may chain his Killing Intent with the burst (much like how one can chain Genjutsu with (Raigen Raikochu) – Lightning Illusion Flash of Lightning Pillar), causing, for a moment, the effects of his short-ranged Killing Intent should the burst reach his opponent.
Note: ~Can only be taught by the master of the Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu style
~Must be a practitioner of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu for at least two months before learning the Forgotten Second Verse
~It costs one move to store chakra within two rings. When chakra is stored, the user no longer needs to focus on said chakra, allowing him to use other techniques while preparing the Forgotten Second Verse
~When a ring has chakra stored in it, it becomes suspended around the ring attached to the Shakujo's staff to which it is bound, making it float without resting on anything and to rotate slowly. Rings with stored chakra may not be used for Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu techniques
~If the user has chakra within all six rings when he uses the Forgotten Second Verse (ie. Forbidden-rank version), the chakra burst will be so intense at the epicenter (the Shakujo), that they will feel as if they ran into a solid wall. Their body will be weakened and made more fragile; bones will be easier to break, skin and muscles will tear more easily, etc. Using the Forbidden-rank version again will break ribs, and a third time will completely shatter a great deal of the user's bones. Every time, the force of the "impact" causes the user to cough up blood

Rank: Forbidden
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 50
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user releases the rings of their Shakujo, which leave the main staff and fly through the air, each to a separate location in order to create a sort of "box" (more akin to a sphere or ellipse) around the user and his opponent. The user may also manipulate the barrier to rotate or roll at their will, allowing the user to spin the barrier in order to shift either their own or their opponent's position (assuming they're standing on the barrier's surface) in order to dodge or to be hit by attacks.

Now for the actual contest. Whoever can come up with the best technique for this style, following the guidelines for the CFS format, will be the winner, have their technique submitted for the style, and will subsequently be taught Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu in its entirety. So, basic guidelines for the contest:
  • Techniques must follow proper CJ format (naturally)
  • Techniques must fall under either the Bound or Ranged style of Shakujo no Kyū-Stsu (naturally)
  • Techniques must not be similar to existing techniques, either approved or pending (also naturally)
  • The contest will be open for six weeks (to be closed August 22), so take your time - don't rush
  • If two submitted techniques are similar, the first person to submit the technique will win the contest (naturally)
  • Submissions will be posted here, and not PMed to me. **If a technique is PMed to me, and I like it best, I will submit it with no credit to the original submitter**
  • I will be the only judge for the techniques, as it is my style, so my word is final. My personal "grading system" will be used, and no explanation for why a technique did or didn't get chosen will be given
The contest is open, and may the best technique win. U_U

**UPDATE**
"(Wasurete Saini no Uta: Pāramitā) Forgotten Second Verse: Six Perfections" has been declined without much hope for being fixed and approved (Purgatory could potentially be fixed). Because of this, two techniques will be accepted. And, to make it fair, I've decided that six weeks will be the official length of the contest to remove ambiguity.

I am unsure of what name to give this technique, so I guess (if you like it) you can decide on that. This technique falls under the Bound style. Feel free to ask questions about this technique if I haven't explained it well or something.

Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 30 (-5 per turn)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user channels their chakra into the six rings and makes them spin. Controlling the rings, the user makes each one touch the edges of the circle they are attached to, creating a high frequency sound. This sound can be aimed at the opponent (controlled using the users chakra) and will leave the opponent stunned. If the user is proficient in Genjutsu, using the same method the user can put the opponent under a Genjutsu once stunned, making them think that a large ring (around their mid-section) is slowly getting smaller, crushing them. The only physical damage the opponent takes is damaged hearing (taken from the initial sound blast), and will leave the opponent vulnerable even after the technique is cancelled. The user will not be able to move without cancelling the technique, as it would be too difficult to manipulate the sound. However, building up the neccesary ring speed and chakra can be done whilst moving. Also, the user may consider using this technique in conjunction with the (Saisho no Uta: Kaiten Burēdo) - First Verse: Rotating Blades technique, using the ring speed built up from this technique.
Notes:~Can only be taught by the master of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
~Can only be used twice per battle
~Lasts 2 turns, or until canceled
~The user cannot use any other jutsu while controlling the rings.
~Can only be used twice per battle

Forgotten third verse: Shinatobes destruction
Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Range: Mid-Long
Chakra cost: 30 (+10 for each turn you maintain it)
Damage Points: 60
Description: The user will starts circulating chakra towards 4 of the rings, they will then begin to float and leave the shakujo itself placing themselves right behind the user. The rings will start spinning at rally high speeds all in the same counterclockwise rotation. As they moves they will slowly leak out wind chakra, creating a cloak of a disk formed wing to be created around each of those rings. As the rings are cloaked in wind chakra, the rotations are so thin and fast, the normal human eye, cannot perceive anything. As the rings are all individually cloaked on the high speed winds. The user will lift the shakujo, so it redirects to one of the kunais. And directly direct the shakujo in the directions the kunai will fly in. The move of the staff itself is just decoy since you can fly any single ring at will. The user might even be able to a set number of rings at once. Once the ring, reaches a limit of 6 m. It will directly stop, but the invisible dense winds will continue forward. The power of them, might even be so strong they can cut through quite strong earth walls. Once the ring stops it will connect itself yet again to the shakujo, leaving the enemy confused until they actually get hit from the high speed dense wind disk.
Note:~Can only be used twice
~Must have mastered Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
~The rings can't be used twice and they need to connect to the shakujo after the attack is launched

Forgotten 4th Verse: Wind maid of Fire
Rank: S Rank
Range: Mid-Long
Type: Offensive
Chakra Cost: 40
Damage points: 90
Description: Once the user is ready he channels chakra to just 2 rings they will leave the shakujo and place themselves before the opponent in the a distance of 5 m from the enemy. One of the rings will be before the other one, close to the enemy about 50 cm, then the one behind. The rings will position themselves not horizontal anymore, but vertical, allowing the enemy to see the user. When the rings are positioned right in the center of each one, a small glowing orb will form. The one closer to the enemy will start glowing a dull green, while the one behind it in a colour of red. As the user makes one simple handseal. The green orb will create great sucking abilities, creating a vacuum right before him, the vacuum is strong enough to restrict movements of more then one enemy. A the enemy is being slowly pulled in, the second orb will starts releasing huge flames, which will take over the wind and burn the opponent to the ground. Both those abilities happen so fast it is almost instantaneous. After the attack is finished, the user will simply call forth the rings again which will connect each other.
Note:~Can only be used twice
~The user will need to spend 2 moves to make this skill work
~Must have mastered the Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu

(Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu: Boido no shi) - Nine Verses of Shakujo: The Verse of Void

Rank: S
Range: Short - Long
Type: Supplementary/Offensive
Chakra: 40
Damage: 80
Description: As akin to the fifth verse of Shakujo, the user will at first focus a considerable amount of chakra condensing it within the rings before releasing it from their Shakujo (or manipulate them once already released) and manipulate them to hover slightly above the ground in the center of the user and his opponent, Then the user will strike the ground with the Shakujo's staff and clap the fist holding their Shakujo with their free hand. After making the improvised handseal, the rings will multiply and cover a 20m2 section of the battlefield around the user and his opponent, and simply all lower to the ground laying stationary upon the earth's surface. From this point on the battle continues as usual, however each ring is embedded with the desired elemental chakra of the user and works so that as soon as the target comes into contact with any ring, the user has the choice of immediately causing the chakra to detonate and shoot up in the form of a pillar or blast of the desired element being capable of reaching upto 5 meters in length with a diameter of 3 meters and the ring itself at its epicenter. This effectively limits the space at which the opponent has to move around and would make it easier for the user to defeat his opponent, the user himself has total control of the rings and it would not affect him in the slightest unless he is caught within one of the blasts.
Note: Any element of the users choice may be used for this technique, however he is required to mention which nature of chakra is used once performing the technique.
Note: Can only be used twice per battle, with a two turn cool down between uses.
Note: The chakra remains in affect for a total of 3 turns, before all rings would disperse leaving the 6 main rings to return to the user's Shakujo.
Note: The format or layout of the rings is entirely up to the user, he just has to state exactly how the rings are spaced out across the battlefield.

Description: The user, after having the rings of their Shakujo separated either from an earlier technique or specifically for this jutsu, will have their rings begin to spin at high speeds before sending them directly at their opponent. It would appear as though the rings had the goal of slicing the opponent once they got there because of the speed and direction they take, but this is not the case. Once they reach the opponent, they begin to orbit the person in an elliptical fashion. This can best be described by looking at how an electron orbits its nucleus. Because of the number of different rings orbiting, the opponent is essentially trapped in one location for moving would ensure a dismembered limb or two. After activation of the jutsu, the rings would continue to orbit the opponent passively, freeing the user to do as they wish.

(I plan on editing this later with a Bound Style technique, as soon as I think of a good one.)

Be warned. Massive wallie inbound. A few notes about this. I really wanted to create something scary as hell. And this is a very versatile technique. I hope you enjoy. Of course you can change whatever you like including the name :). I realize its called the Nine Verses but I felt this warranted a sacred tenth or something xD. But change whatever you want. The reason it is F-rank is because you can easily kill yourself with it.

(Shinseina Bun’no Uta: Baindo no Shakujo) – Sacred Tenth Verse: Binds of the Shakujo
Rank: Forbidden
Range: Mid – Long
Type: Offensive
Chakra: 50 (-10 per turn) (-20 to restore the tether per ring pair)
Damage: 100
Description: The Sacred Tenth Verse of Shakujo is a binding technique that was developed using its ranged style primarily for the use for disabling large opponents or their summons, however it is very versatile in its usage. The user will detach all six rings from their Shakujo very quickly (faster than throwing a kunai) and channel one of the five basic elemental nature transformations into the rings. With this a ring will form a tether between another ring creating a line between the two. This pairs the six rings with one another and creates three pairs. The distance of the chakra line can be determined by the user for their purposes. The line itself will be composed of the elemental nature that was channeled into the rings. Each nature will have varying effects on the tether and the rings themselves. Additionally, while the tether is forming the rings will also be spinning at very high speeds for some of the elemental natures. If the tether is broken the user can just channel more chakra into the ring pair that was broken and restore it. The ring pairs can only remain detached temporarily.

Raiton: If the user channels their raiton chakra into the rings it will form a lightning tether between each pair. The lightning tether itself cannot cut through objects. On contact with a target it will cause a full body paralysis due to the strength of the raiton and severe electrical burns. The rings will also gain lightning like qualities as they spin. Due to their size and momentum they can cut through solid rock easily. With movement control the user can bind a target at the legs or arms with the tether and wrap it around them.

Suiton: If the user channels their suiton chakra into the rings it will form a tether of water between each pair. The water tether can take on three release states – oil, syrup, and regular water. If the user activates the oil release state the tether will take on an oily form. Anything the tether comes in contact with will be bound and covered in a massive amount of oil. Additionally, the rings of the pair will spin at extremely fast speeds spewing oil from the side of them in all directions. This can even affect the user if not moved properly. If the user takes on the syrup form the tether will become very sticky and dense. It retains its binding ability. When the tether binds a target it will cause the syrup like water to spread over their body. The rings in this state will also spin at incredibly fast speeds but will not spew any water. With the regular water release state the tether will act as a regular water tether that can bind an opponent. The rings however will be spinning so fast that they will release a slicing thin wave of water that is capable of cutting through rock at the users command. Depending on how long the user activates this it is capable of making a complete circular wave of water.

Fuuton: If the user channels their fuuton chakra into the rings it will form a tether of sharp wind. The wind tether is capable of cutting through almost any defense clean through. Additionally, the rings rotate so at incredibly fast speeds and as such the user can release a vortex of wind that is B-rank in strength. The vortex will form under both rings and is about 1 meter in radius. It is easily capable of knocking an opponent off balance. In this form the wind tether cannot bind opponents. It can only slice through them.

Katon: If the user channels their katon chakra into the rings it will form a fire tether. The fire tether is capable of burning through most materials. Anyone within range of the fire tether will find the air around them heat up extremely fast and make it very difficult to breath. Additionally the rings will also heat up. If they come within one foot of the target it will cause painful first degree burns. On contact the rings are easily able to burn flesh in localized regions while the tether binds an opponent and burns them alive.

Doton: If the user channels their doton chakra into the rings it will form a stone tether. This is a special tether. It is completely solid and as such the tether cannot bind and the rings do not spin. However the rock is incredibly hard and cannot be broken by most attacks. When combined with fluid movements and high momentum from flying it makes the rock ideal for blunt force damage. On the outside edge of the ring small spikes of earth will form that when making direct contact with an enemy can grow forward and pierce through their body as a sharp pike of earth.

Note: When the user activates this technique they can only use elements of inferior nature to the release state of the Shakujo. For example, if someone activates suiton they can only use katon.
Note: When activated the user is restricted to B-rank jutsu.
Note: This can only be used once.
Note: The technique will last for a maximum of three turns or until deactivated.
Note: The user can control the movement of the rings with his hands. As such he cannot use hand seals.
Note: The user cannot change the elemental nature of the rings once released from the Shakujo.

The Forgotten Verse of the Vampiric Penguin
Type: Offensive/Supplementary
Rank: Forbidden
Range: Medium/Long
Chakra: 50 (-120 per turn to the opponent)
Damage: 90
Description: The user, after having the rings of their Shakujo separated either from an earlier technique or specifically for this jutsu, will cause the six rings to form a hexagon around the opponent. After the rings formed a hexagon around the opponent, the user channels their suiton chakra into the rings. Once this is done, the rings would start oozing out water at a very fast rate, all the while the water staying within a hexagon shape. Within mere moments, the opponent would be trapped inside the hexagon of water with the rings as a perimeter. Once the opponent is trapped, within the hexagon of water, the water begins to drain them of their chakra as (Suiton: Uramiame no Jutsu) - Water Release: Grudge Rain Technique drains people of their chakra. Whilst in the hexagon of water, the opponent would be hard pressed to move, like they would be inside (Suiton: Funshutsu Mizu Kinko) - Water Release: Gushing Water Imprisonment. To keep the rings from allowing water outside of the perimeter and to keep the water sucking chakra out of the opponent, the user must maintain their focus on this technique.

Note: Can only be used once per battle
Note: Cannot use S-rank or above suiton for the next turn
Note: Cannot use A-rank or above Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu (The Nine Verses of Shakujo) techniques for one turn

The Third Verse of the Deceitful Penguin
Type: Offensive
Rank: A-rank
Range: Medium/Long
Chakra: 30
Damage: N/A
Description: The user, after having the rings of their Shakujo separated either from an earlier technique or specifically for this jutsu, will cause the six rings to bury themselves into the ground around the user, forming a five meter radius around him. Without wasting any more time, they come back up from the ground, dirty as can be, and take flight above the user. Then, with the use of more chakra, the rings start spinning at an alarming rate and the chunks of dirt and small rock on the rings begin to fly off the rings at almost untrack-able speed. The only safe place for this jutsu would be within the epicenter of the Shakujo's rings, where the user should be standing at.

Note: Can only be taught by the master of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
Note: Can only be used twice per battle
Note: Requires two turn minimum in between usages
Note: Lasts 3 turns, or until canceled

The Forgotten Verse of the Shocking Penguin
Type: Offensive
Rank: S
Range: Medium-Long
Chakra: 40
Damage: 80
Description: The user, after having the rings of their Shakujo separated either from an earlier technique or specifically for this jutsu, will have one ring go one meter under the ground right below the opponent, one ring go one meter above the opponent, and the last four rings surrounding the opponent, all staying an equal distance in between each other. As the rings surround the opponent. the user channels raiton chakra into the rings, causing a barrier made of raiton to form around the opponent. After the barrier is formed, the user can flash one hand seal, causing the rings of the Shakujo to converge on one another, having the raiton cut anything trapped inside the barrier into bits.

Note: No S-rank raiton or above for one turn
Note: Can only be used three times
Note: Must have been taught the CFS

Eighth Verse of the Binding Rings
Type: Offensive/Supplementary
Rank: A
Range: Short-Medium
Chakra: 30
Damage: 60
Description: The user, after having the rings of their Shakujo separated either from an earlier technique or specifically for this jutsu, will have all six of their rings go underground. Once underground, the rings will travel under the opponent until they are all directly underneath him. With the use of chakra, the rings would all expand outwards up to as much as ten meters. Once the rings are expanded, they would rise from beneath the ground with the target in the middle of the rings, and by slamming the butt of their Shakujo on the ground, the user will cause the rings to shrink in size immediately, binding whatever is in the middle of the rings.

(Wasurete Saini no Uta: Atarashii mashin no tamashī) Forgotten Second Verse: Soul of a New Machine
Rank: S
Type: Offensive/Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 40
Damage Points: 80
Description: The user of the ranged style will manipulate the rings which are either bound to the Shajuko or already in the field, to attack their opponent. Depending on the element used, the rings may either attack or act as a supplement for further attacks. The moment the user channels his chakra into the rings, 4 rings starts rotating along their axis and also starts revolving around the target (5 meter radius) at very high speeds. The rotation won't be seen as it happens along its own axis. What happens next, is dependent on the element that the rings use.
Fire: The four rings revolving at such high speeds, generate fire chakra that forms around the target in the shape of a vortex. The vortex generates fire so hot, that it burns the target inside, turning him into ashes in mere seconds.
Lightening: The four rings revolving at such high speeds, generate lightening chakra that forms around the target in the shape of a vortex. The vortex generates lightening so powerful, that it shocks and paralyses the target inside for 3 turns, burning his insides and darkening his skin.
Wind: The four rings revolving at such high speeds, generate wind chakra that forms around the target in the shape of a vortex. The vortex generates wind so sharp, that it cuts the opponent on his flesh, giving very deep cuts all over the body till his whole body mutilates in seconds.
Water: The four rings revolving at such high speeds, generate water chakra that forms around the target in the shape of a vortex. The vortex generates water which is as thick as a maple syrup that is then splashed over the opponent. The adhesive property of this water will make it impossible for the opponent to move around. Even lifting a limb would be difficult.
Earth: The four rings revolving at such high speeds, generate earth chakra that forms around the target in the shape of a vortex. The vortex generates mud which is as thick as the mud from "Sticky Earth Drop" which would crush the opponent under its weight. The mud also has the immobilizing property as the opponent's entire body gets buried in the mud, making it impossible for him to move his limbs.
While this happens, the two rings of Shakujo stay by the user to protect him or supplement him, as he prepares for his further attacks. These two rings, lift the user into the air by moving under his legs, as he monitors the opponent. The two rings will contain the same elemental chakra as the other four, but will not harm/affect the user as its his own chakra. The user may choose to keep the two rings besides him or may let the rings join the other rings in attack, in which case the rank will increase by one (F rank), chakra cost and damage will increase too (50,90). Due to the excessive amount of chakra used in this technique (F rank), it would leave the Shakujo unusable for the next 2 turns.
Note:
- Can only be taught by the master of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu
- Can only be used twice per battle (and once in case of F rank)
- Requires two turn minimum in between usages

**Contest Closed**

Now I will take my time to go through all the submissions and choose the few I like most. You will receive a PM within the next two weeks (family vacation doesn't allow much time for NB. and just after I get back from camp <.<) if I've chosen your technique, probably in order to work some things out and "perfect" the jutsu before I submit it. If you receive no PM by September, feel free to contact me if you wish to know why I didn't like your technique. For now, be patient. Real Life is at work on my end. U_U

EDIT: So yeah, I will still be taking submissions for a bit. I got confused. <.<

Well, since you said the contest would be open until 22th, I'll post my idea just the same. Regardless if I win or not, since you manually closed the contest, it's not a technique that can be submitted in a different style, so consider it a donation xD

Description: The user charges chakra through the Shajuko, which will cause the attached rings to spin around wildly. The rings will perk up in a similar manner as the First Verse, but the chakra coating them will acquire different properties. As they spin, they will create a great drag and friction around the brim of the staff's head and the air around. In a fine balance between self-preservation and output of energy, the ring portion in contact with the staff, and the staff's head will glow past the hues of red to become a scorching white light, with the vibration around the rings and staff acquiring powerful repellent barrier of displaced air and a deafening metal on metal friction sound. The user is then able to swing the blazing hot staff, using the heated air barrier to stun and repel any target in close proximity, the air not only pushing way the target before it can actually come in contact with the heated ring, but also heavily burning the target as it is being repelled. If in close proximity with mechanical sensible organs, such as the inner-ear, the metal sound will disrupt and pierce, adding deafness to the burning damage. In practical terms, this hot barrier suffers no elemental weakness or strengths, a combination between energy damage (heat ) and physical damage ( displaced air ), allowing the user to imbue Kenjutsu and Taijutsu techniques that use the Shajuko with the barrier's power. The scouring rotation lasts for 3 turns, after which the rings will simply become limp and cool down, for 2 turns. The area of effect of the barrier is half a meter, which is the distance the user must remain from the staff's head, in order not to be affected by it, making the motions of the style looser and wider, as the practitioner will usually wield the staff from it's very bottom, creating distance from the head.

*After the barrier finishes, during the cool down, the user is unable to use Shajuko techniques*
*The user is able to focus chakra on the staff's head during the technique, forcing the rings to infuse their chakra onto a single one, which will embody all the power of the verse. The user is then able to shoot this ring off the Shajuko, towards the opponent, at the speed of an arrow. This will forcefully end the verse and begin the cooldown at the end of the turn, where the projectile will fly back towards the Shajuko, after it dealt damage*

Choose whatever rank you'd like. I suggest S for power or A for versatility (making stronger than the First Verse).

I don't mind xD Though I do like your style. Very transcendental and spiritual. I particularly like some of the name choices ;)
I thought about something called Excommunication, or Apotheosis, where you use the rings as a sealing technique, but you already have something very similar with Purgatory. In my idea, the rings would create a formation around a target, and a progressively seal away it's chakra. First a pillar of light would fall from the heaven, creating a Barrier not unlike the 4-side purple barrier of the sound nin, and then each ring would seal away something of the user. I haven't decided what that something could be, 5 elements + Life? lol. I would love to have this barrier to steal chakra, drying up the target (and transferring it to you) but that's just a personal preference. I just think this barrier + pillar of light would go very well with the style you created, and the rings are nice to mediate a fuuin.

Btw, I also like the idea of using the rotation of rings as mediums from genjutsu, but that might fall under Sound.

While it sounds quite interesting and cool, there are still the problems of myself, while being able to get the permissions (and probably training) relatively easily, not having Fuuinjutsu, as well as my wanting to keep the style relatively simple for those who want to learn it; I don't want to teach people the style and end up them only known 9 techniques because they don't have Fuuin. If there was no limit to CFS techniques, I would love that idea, but I just want to keep the overall style of it to ninjutsu with the rings.
And yes, if it weren't for the fact that it would fall under Sound release (which also overcomplicates the style as people would need sound to finish learning, and I would need sound in the first place), the genjutsu aspect would have been quite a good idea.
As for the names, I did my best to name things after spiritual aspects, particularly Buddhism like the Rinnegan. Though this was after I already made a few with lame names. <.<

And, in case anyone else is wondering, I suppose this has become a bit like a discussion thread for the style. For those who wish to discuss, you are welcome to.

Uh that does make me thing of something pretty nice! What if you use the rings as glorified handcuffs forcing the opponent to assume the same stance as you, which, in this case, would be the meditative sort of veneration stance. It would be something of a missionary technique, where you force your opponent to subjugate himself to your religion, opening him (as he is handcuffed and unable to move ) to whatever you'd like do do. So, you'd stand up, with the shajuko, and hit your opponent in the back of his head (as he is bowing) and either knock him out with a blunt strike, or actually pierce through his head with the shajuko.

That would be one idea, but one could write the technique to be simply about rings handcuffing and forcing the opponent into different poses, where the rings could gain more weight and subdue the opponent, or simply move him around.

I was planning to make the latter one as the second verse (had came to the thread to post it only), I also had an another idea for the second verse, so now that you have stated one of it let me share my second one, it basically revolved around the fact that as the style was being transformed from a simple bound style to the ranged style the user could only have the control over the rings for a smaller distance, so once the rings were separated from Shakujo the user would wear them in his wrist and ankle like a bracelet/handcuff, the rings never really touched the users body and continued rotating on their axis as thin layer of wind started to surround the rings which created a shuriken kind of effect only much more deadly due to the sharp wind which was surrounding them, the rings provided a great aid and power up in a close range battle as whenever we landed a punch or a kick the rings would also deliver deep cut's on the opponents body, it also provided with an improvement in the reach (nothing extra ordinary, say 10 odd cm but still crucial in a close range battle), The user could also use the rings on his arm in a different manner,he will put his arm outwards as the ring come out of his hands the will release a strong gust of wind which will push any opponent backwards with minor cuts ( the gust is of short range only). [Will post it in technique form too]

I also like the the idea behind the first one, we can also use the touch from the rings to cast the opponent into a genjutsu where he goes through soothing process as he opens himself to our religion...its a raw idea which surly requires work.

I also liked the whole idea behind this CFS, its really cool and unique, its one of the best CFS I know off. ^^

Edit: The technique form for above explanation.

Description: During the time when the Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu was going through a transformation from simple bound style to the ranged style the user could only have the control over the rings for a smaller distance, so once the rings were separated from Shakujo from an earlier technique or specifically for this jutsu, the user would guide 4 rings towards his wrists and ankles and would wear them in his wrist and ankles like bracelet/ handcuff, the rings are not in direct contact of the users body and continue rotating on their fix axis as thin layer of wind starts to accumulate around each ring, which creates a shuriken kind of effect only much more deadly due to the sharp wind which is surrounding them, the rings provide a great aid and power up in a close range battle as whenever we land a punch or a kick the rings would also deliver deep cut's on the opponents body, it also provides an improvement in the reach (nothing extra ordinary, say 5 to 10 odd cm but still crucial in a close range battle), The user could also use the rings on his arm in a different manner,by putting his arm outwards he would direct the rings in his arm to come out of his hands and they will release a strong gust of wind which will be able to push any opponent backwards with minor cuts.

-Using full body surge technique of lightning or fire nature will cancel its effect out.

Okay, I had a very similar idea to these quite a while back when tossing around ideas for the style. Basically, it utilized the ability of the rings to simple "unmerge" from the Shakujo in order to "slip" onto either the user's or the opponent's wrists and ankles (don't know what to do with the other two rings) and force movements. This would allow the user to fly (use the rings to pick himself up off the ground), or move his body even while paralyzed via electrical current (probably not genjutsu, but I can try <.<). It could also be used to restrain the opponent by restricting their movements, keeping hands away from each other to stop handseals, force them to leave contact with the earth to eliminate Doton as a threat, etc. It's basically a combination of what Lili's talking about and Gint's technique without wind as one. I put it aside because I personally thought it was slightly lame and that other people could come up with better. <.<

It's like that guy from Kung Fu Hustle. You have 6 rings. 4 would go to each limb, and multiply to for several bracelets that protect the arm and give the arm greater blunt power. The other 2 could spin behind the user, like Enel's Tomoe Drums, which makes the user look much more godlike. Or they could go to the earlobes, which also represent spirituality and deity.
