Now that I'm done, I will show you a theory , and Kishi's possible future plans.

He is the strongest ninja that has ever existed. He created Ninjutsu. He awakened Rinnegan, or was born with it. He had two sons: one that became the first of the Senju clansmen, and one that became the first of the Uchiha clansmen:
When the Sage was on his deathbed, he selected the younger brother(Senju Ancestor) to carry on his dreams of peace for the ninja world.
So6p had an immense power and chakra. He took his chakra, and gave it a physical form: Juubi. He later divided it in nine Bijuus and gave them names.
"I don't have long any more. Shukaku, Matatabi, Isobu, Son Gokū, Kokuō, Saiken, Chōmei, Gyūki, Kurama. Even though you have been separated, you shall always be together. Until eventually that time shall come when you will become one… You each carry a name… And with a different shape than you had up to now, you will be shown a righteous path, different from the time you spent inside of me. What is true power… …Until that time…"
These were the last words to the Bijuu's. He knew he didn't have long until death. But why? I think that splitting the Ten Tails using his remaining forces caused him to be low on chakra and die. He chose on his deathbed the son with his body, too. He knew that he will eventually die anyway. He has split Tentails in order to find the next SO6P faster, to bring peace faster. (Now comes my theory) He gave each bijuu some powers, that can be unlocked by the right one("What is true power… …Until that time…"). He chose the future Senju Ancestor because one must be compatible in order to be a Jinchuuriki. This involves great stamina and strenght. After that, the Bijuus somehow turned bad and destructive. I think this has to be linked with the Uchiha clan.

Jiraiya: 児雷也, literally "Young Thunder"
A lead character in Japanese folk tale, married to "Tsunade"
Tsunade: mooring rope, Wife of Jiraiya in mythical tale

Thunder of God Technique is Minato's signature jutsu.
Both Tsunade and Jiraiya liked to drink.
Both had feelings for each other. They were portrayed as wife and husband in mithology.
Naruto sees Tsunade as his grandmother.
Jiraiya sees Minato as his own son, and Naruto as his grandson.
Naruto's nature type is portrayed in Minato's name. But water is linked with Minato's name too. So Minato could have had both water and wind as nature type.
Tobirama had teleportation skills, as well as Minato. He is linked with water too. Both Jiraiya and Tobirama have red markings on their faces.
Tsunade and Hashirama could heal themselves without handseals. A similar thing is linked with Naruto: he is healing himself way faster than a normal person, though it was associated with the bijuu sealed in him. But Kushina and Mito didn't experience this, nor did any other Jinchuuriki. You can't tell if he was born with it or he was given this after becoming a Jinchuuriki, because he had a beast sealed in himself minutes before birth.
In Naruto, usually, legends are born from other legends or strong people(Naruto, Sasuke, Itachi, Gaara, etc.). So Minato's parents couldn't be some ordinary people.
People can do crazy stuff when drunk. What if Tsunade and Jiraiya had a son out of it? What if after this, Tsunade still loved Dan and the child was sent in Konoha for adoption?(assuming that Tsunade left Konoha after Dan's death) What if she couldn't even choose a name, and couldn't even bring herself to tell Jiraiya? This kind of stuff may happen.
If you see, there's a physical resemblance too: Tobirama and jiraiya have white hair and red marks, Tsunade and Minato both have blonde/golden hair.
So...
Tobirama=>his son/daughter=>Jiraiya
................................................................=>Minato=>Naruto
Hashirama=>his son/daughter=>Tsunade
This will prove that Naruto is more than 30% Senju, 50% Uzumaki, and Minato was maybe aware of it after Jiraiya left Konoha for his trip on gathering information(for icha icha). So this is why Minato didn't die right away when he sealed half of kyuubi in himself(but still complained about the heavy chakra) and didn't risk a lot sealing the other half in Naruto.
Maybe this is why we were shown the fact that one must be compatible in order to be a Jinchuuriki, and this explains Naruto's links with water.
