Confused by how the chakra rods came to be in Hashirama

Hashirama had no intel on them so he most likely just assumed they were a form of weapon, so he had no need to really dodge them in edo. So I'm assuming Madara managed to place them there during their fight.

he recieved them during the fight they had of screen, if you look back to previous chapters you can see the rods in his back

Hashirama puts wood dragon around madara, and madara puts chakra rods on him, during the battle. just the usual u know
