Confused about the LAST page of Boruto chapter 12? Explanation and Questions.

The Daimyō is talking to the Butler about starting "the plan" tonight especially since the escort Boruto has left the kid's side. He asks the "butler" if he acquired the "face" on which the "butler" says yes. What adds to the confusion is that after this the "Daimyō" adresses the said "butler" as his BOSS.


There is a ton of questions that have arisen from this page.

Did the real Butler get taken out by this impostor called "BOSS"?
Is that the real Daimyō or is he also a impostor with a "face"?
If he is an impostor what happened to the real Daimyō?
If not why does he want to bring harm to his son and why would he agree to serve this "BOSS"?

I believe the butler and the Daimyō we see here are both imposters who have some face swapping ability. They call themselves the Mujina.

Mujina (貉?) is an old Japanese term primarily referring to the badger. In some regions the term refers instead to the raccoon dog (also called tanuki) or to introduced civets. Adding to the confusion, in some regions badger-like animals are also known as mami, and in one part of Tochigi Prefecture badgers are referred to as tanuki and raccoon dogs are referred to as mujina.

Which didn't really connect until I found this.

The Noppera-bō (のっぺら坊 Noppera-bō?), or faceless ghost, is a Japanese yōkai (legendary creature) that looks like a human but has no face. They are sometimes mistakenly referred to as a mujina, an old Japanese word for a badger or raccoon dog. Although the mujina can assume the form of the other, noppera-bō are usually disguised as humans. Such creatures were thought to sometimes transform themselves into noppera-bō in order to frighten humans. Lafcadio Hearn used the animals' name as the title of his story about faceless monsters, probably resulting in the misused terminology.

Noppera-bō are known primarily for frightening humans, but are usually otherwise harmless. They appear at first as ordinary human beings, sometimes impersonating someone familiar to the victim, before causing their features to disappear, leaving a blank, smooth sheet of skin where their face should be.

So a face swapping, faceless Clan? Reminds me of that Naruto filler we had with part 1 Naruto.

I also don't think these guys are connected to the timeskip plot of "THE END OF THE NINJA" with Kawaki, rather it seems this is a small minor story were the kid and his father the real Daimyō will be saved by Boruto and his team, on which like Boruto and Naruto the Daimyō and his son will learn to be closer with on another as an end result.

I think the boss can record faces and change his own face.He took the old guy' s appearance to record the kid' s face, to deal with the damyo.The other guy doesn' t look like the damyo.

The butler is more likely a member of the Mujina.He doesn' t look like the picture of shojoji we saw in the previous chapter.
The old guy who was called boss is probably shojoji, Shojoji is said to be able to get the memories of people and transform into them.
Shojoji transformed into the old guy to get the kid' s memory to deal with the damyo.
Shojoji is the boss of the Mujina.
