I'm not arguing weather Gai should've died or not(Which in actuality think he should, that would have made an epic death, but oh well kishi likes to ruin stuff as usual), but I'm putting out the possibility that the same might have happened to Obito(Which I also think is pure BS).The reason why I think Naruto's power saves even from jutsu such as Rinne tensei and eight gates is because of Naruto's answer to the sage since the sage the sage probably gave him power in accordance with that answer which was to save his friends

To me it looked liked Naruto put some sort of seal on Gai's body. I think that he used the seal to block the disintegration but cannot actually heal Gai.
