sound genjutsu won't work if someone covers their ears, and visual genjutsu won't work if someone covers their eyes. I think it's easier to cover your ears than eyes and still fight, so visual genjutsu wins.

Pain had visual genjutsu and jiraiya defeated him with sound genjutsu, but seein as visual is easier to cast,i say visual but if it wasnt for that sound would be better

Well its a toss up. They both are pretty easily avoided. If these is a genjutsu that works with smell or just inhaling that would be really deadly.

The only techniques that slowed strong visual genjustu down is the sound genjustu. That's what that manga has shown us so far.

Yes, but Kakashi remarked that only Guy was able to do that because of his exceptional taijutsu ability.
