Comparing character?

Why do people compare characters with each other when they don't know the full extend of their power and abilities just like with tobirama( we don't know what specific abilities and jutsu's he used) or minato ( only knowing a hand full of things about him)

And why compare all the characters with hashirama or itachi?
The last thing bothers me the most...

Well to me it seems so pointless.... Everybody knows where hashirama and itachi are capable off and most of them read it in the manga, there is no reason for them to show off their favorite character..

The fact that everyone compares there character to Itachi clearly shows he is the strongest.. People always hate the fact that we say he is the best YET they always make threads to down play his abilities or make vs threads and say why he will lose.

By this i'm not down playing him but he's the strongest?
He got some great skills don't get me wrong but i have my doubts if he's the strongest...
I'm open minded about sasuke and naruto surpassing him and i think even kakashi is stronger as him but that's not my
Point and it's my opinion that they all have counter jutsu's so it's unclear to me who would win

Only thing about itachi i have to say is what every sober member would say...
That he is a good shinobi and a hugh chestpiece of the NV and not more or less
