Is Their a difference between A Companion and a Summoning?

If their is a companion in the manga such as Ponta. Does that mean that a Custom Summon for Raccoon's is out of the question?​

A companion is just an animal that follows you but isn't summonable.

They actually can. Ponta just got owned by Kisame.

I think its bio specific, i.e if you have a Kiba bio you get Akamaru by default but to confirm consult with an RP mod.
