Ok, so we know a few ninjas who specialise in puppeteering.

Kankuro
Chiyo
Sasori

Its obvious that their primary weakness is that they are strictly long range fighters and have very poor taijutsu. So why dont they make that a priority? You would think that they would try to eliminate a weakness that is so blatantly obvious, Shino did with some help from his teammates, so why doesnt Kankuro (since he is the only one on that list who happens to be alive).

I dont see any balance here, do you?

Only Sasori had 100 puppet thing going on, and besides, what if the opponent happens to be faster than the puppets.

we have some powerful characters here:

Naruto

He has beastly abilities, but why isnt he smarter? eliminate the weakness should be a priority shouldnt it?

Because, they are in war, who the fck would take a break from war go home and train? :|

Well if you train in taijutsu you will have trouble fighting with your puppet while fighting with taijutsu You cant combine the two.

Sasori had an interesting solution to this problem:
a) being a puppet himself that could slip into different bodies, disguising his true location
b) having a puppet army to keep everyone way too freakin' busy to get close, if they even live

Kankuro works basically the same way, often concealing which body is puppet/puppet-master, while employing -- for the sake of the Manga -- devastatingly lethal offensive tactics against his opponents. (He has more confirmed kills than most characters in the series.) It's a pretty good defense, taijutsu aside.

Btw, Kankuro made Sasori into his own puppet, so...

@whoever-said-something-about-only-Sasori-having-100-puppets: see above.

I never said to take a break from the war, weaknesses should be dealt with beforehand. And Naruto isnt stupid, people dont give him enough credit.

My point is that it seems impractical to be a puppeteer unless they train their taijutsu too so as to remove the weakness. They dont have to be using it at the same time, its more like a backup in case the puppet(s) are bypassed and the opponent goes straight for the one controlling it.

And as per only Sasori having 100 puppets, have you ever seen Kankuro use 100 puppets? I haven't, but if you find a place then please show me, it would be rather awesome.

What's your point?

Sasori isn't a "human puppet" like the ones Sasori had, i.e, 3rd Kazekage. Kankuro doesn't have access to Sasori's techniques.

To be fair, they had their puppets to handle close range fighting. It was probably just redundant, when instead of practicing close range combat, they can focus more on their puppets and other fields.

why should they train in taijutsu? they are not close combat figthers and even if they do, then they don't train themselves in puppet techniques.

Even if they did train, they will still be weak in taijutsu. Would it increase their chance of surviving? I guess so. But not as nearly enough if they were to continue to train their strengths.

I guess my point is that they should at least have a decent level of taijutsu just in case their puppets become useless for one reason or another.

Ways puppets could be useless:
Getting smashed/blown up/dissasembled
Being slower than the opponent
Getting trapped by wire/jutsu/other specialists(shino's bugs are a good example)

I guess if their puppets are incapacitated/unusable, they are pretty much screwed.
