OT: i'm sure madara purposely avoided regeneration for the thrill of the fight. we know he's a thrill seeker. his weakness was taijutsu, he fought a taijutsu master that was using his best tech. a master that was a well liked character so of course he'll go out seeming to have made an impact. we've known and grown with gai longer than madara, its only fair to not have him one shotted and have his life's final effort be for naught.

now i think naruto has only prolonged his death so he can say his goodbyes. ashura did inherit the sage's life force so this makes perfect sense that naruto can now manipulate it to some extent.
