Well, it's almost certain that the statue behind Sasuke represent Indra or if you want Taishakuten. I say that because of the thing he is holding in his hand ( I am still trying to find what exactly that can be ) and Taishakuten indeed wields thunderbolt ( right hand ). They also have the same hairstyle if you ask me( I mean the statue and the real Taishakuten ). And guess what, Taishakuten in Japan is a God of war, storms and thunder. What was the main Sasuke technique?

And about the statue behind Naruto... I wouldn't say that the statue completely represent only Asura, but it's rather combination of Asura and Bonten as well.

OT: Love the part with Hagoromo's hands. :)
Susano'o is also the god of Sea and Storms. Curiously.

I found a statue of Taishakuten.

I wondered what was on Indra's right shoulder , and now I see that object on Taishakuten...

Does anybody know what it is?

My thoughts :-

The weapon he is holding has two parts :-

1) Trishul representing Power.

2) Paintbrush representing to change Reality.

What technique in narutoverse has both qualities ? It is obviously Tsukuyomi.

The Paintbrush might symbolise that Kishi can change his storyline of Naruto the way he wants to, the same thing can be done with Tsukuyomi which has the power to change Reality.

What are your Thoughts ?
What do you think of my perspective ?

You mean the thing on the right side of his chest?
Well, I think that is part of some kind of armor. Taishakuten in Japanese mythology is sometimes wearing armor for some reason, and scientists think that is because Taishakuten previously has been God of war. In Japan he is considered to be deity of protection.
You see, on this picture you can actually see that this thing looks like armor:

Sounds pretty interesting.
I was trying to find what the item can be and I found some interesting things which maybe could support your theory as well.
Allow me to search more and I'll tell you if I found something more.

Also for all of you: There is this manga from the 1989 called RG Veda. Check it out. Pretty interesting thing. :)

The trishul ( means three spear ) often represents : creation , maintenance and destruction ; past , present and future ; the three gunas :

The paintbrush may be representing the ability to manipulate the three gunas , manipulate future , manipulate time (like Shiva's damaru).

I will be waiting for your Reply. Another interesting thing That I noticed :-

Sasuke's Statue represents the three great Mangekyo Sharingan Techniques :-

1) The Paintbrush represents Tsukuyomi.

2) The Trishul or the flames on the ring around the Statue's head represents Amaterasu.

3) The armour or clothing on the Statue represents Susanoo.

What are your thoughts on the above ?

Uh... Interesting.
I already though about this when you mentioned Tsukuyomi in the first post, and it definitively sounds possible.
But I still haven't found enough time to do my research to see if there is something else that the statue can represent.

A Question that I have :-

Does the ring on his head have Six Arches. If so does it represent the Six elements or the Six Rinnegan Paths ?

Yes, Taishakuten indeed has six arches if you observe this picture. However, it's not usual to represent Taishakuten like that. He usually doesn't have that ring around his head on other statues.
I believe that ring represent Taishakuten as Bodhisattva since it is said that he is often depicted like that in Far East. And in the Pāli canon, the bodhisatta is also described as someone who is still subject to birth, illness, death, sorrow, defilement, and delusion.

And if I am right about this that connect us again with mythology where Thaishakuten and Brahma appear together opposite of each other. And remember what I said about statue behind Naruto.

Underlined: Aren't those Six curses ? So what will be the six Opposite or good Qualities ?

seems like everyweek Kishi is proving my suspicions regarding that color page

Especially with Naruto's new found healing abilities

It is a ''Third'' eye ability, something attained by being the reincarnation of Ashura, [and also the nice powerup from Hagoromo]

I say this why, please note the man who ''healed'' himself without seals, and whose sage mode had a symbolic third eye, and of course was Ashura's previous reincarnation:

Hahaha!Well done.
I think I felt as you do when Kishimoto made Sasuke manipulate time!
That was foreshadowed by the trishul+paintbrush.

The item on the shoulder of Sasuke's statue could very well be YATA MIRROR , now that I thought about it , I wonder why I didn't thought about it earlier..

Interesting insight on where Kishi might have drawn some seeds for his story. However, Hashirama was the oldest of four boys.
