Currently doing a Film Studies / Production degree, final year of it.
I don't debate disabled kids, fam.feelings destroyed lol
I heard if you plan on getting a degree in Psych, you should try and go for your Masters since you won't find many jobs in the psych field with a bachelors.
Graduated 3 years ago. Been in my first job right after I graduated... working as an Editorial Assistant, and after that promoted to Production Editor in a Publishing House for textbooks and teacher's manual... XD Sounds boring. LOL But yeah, it's related to Journalism. Didn't even have thorough lessons with it. Adver is more on marketing.
Do you want to work in ad agencies?
No, I do not want to work with ad agencies, much less for the press.
I would like to focus in press release and corporate communication.
I worked as a reporter and was one of the worst jobs in my life, stressfull as hell and my journalist colleagues were dumb and retarded. And I don't really like the dynamics of working in agencies. That made me think i hated mass comunication, but i realized it was just the area that was not my thing.
And no, your job is not what i'd call boring, unless you don't like it. XD Are you happy with it or you aim other area?
Well, it's routinary! Editing textbooks? XD Feels like I'm in school again. Although, I'm ok in terms of supervisor, colleagues, workplace, and a little bit in compensation haha! (of course, I want to earn more!)
Before, while still in college, I would like to work in an ad agency because they say it pays a lot. But then, I've heard news and it is quite true that work there is too much demanding, pressure and stress, working so late at night to meet deadlines that would eventually the client wouldn't like... I was discouraged. I don't think I'll be able to handle that and that I'm not 'creative' enough and my 'big ideas' aren't that really extraordinary LOL.
Now, working in a publishing...to amp up the game for me–it's either being a Teacher/Professor ang gain a master's degree and/or write a book?. Or I could still fulfill my dream to work in an ad agency as a copywriter or being a writer/editor in a magazine. And then, here I go again doubting my skills haha! As of now, I am thinking of going back to school for MA or another degree in education for english as a major... or whatever. It feels like studying my whole life. XD
How about you?
I don't want to work as a journalist too XD
Regarding paying a lot, i think depends of the agency and the time you work there. If you love it and stay in the same agency for years probably you'll be payed well, but in the beginning is a really stressful and ungrateful job. But anyway, i'm brazilian, i don't know how it works in depht on other places.
About the ideas, in my experience, the clients are quite dumb, and with the time it became somewhat formulatic. Also, you'll be supervised, there'll be a team with you providing ideas. And at the beginning, no one start in the creation area, but in the bureaucratic part. As you are bored with your work, and you have curiosity, had you ever considered to work in agency just for experience? But for me, particularly, that's not the lifestyle that I would in the long run, since it is very stressful.
So, as you find your job boring, maybe it's not the kind of life you want? There are people who are happy with any job, others take time to find themselves and need various experiences until they find the area that suits themselves.
aaw long a ago i was thinking about being a teacher in university, it seems like a nice job, but now i'm focused on other things like finish my major and conquer my financial independence, and pr is more my thing. Do you want to teach social media or other area?
