For me, it's a bit early to call this one...

On one hand... surely, if you're going to kill a public figure who represents a political threat... there are more subtle ways to go about it. I can think of several ways that are much less likely to arouse suspicion.

On the other hand... if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck....

And, yet another possibility is that this guy intentionally destroyed himself in an attempt to create the illusion of government kill-squads.

I have to say that it's a very interesting line of coincidences leading into this one.

I don't start threads very often.

Usually, when it comes to Naruto discussion, anything I could start a thread about has already had fifteen threads started about it within the same two hour window. I find adding my voice to the cacaphony of screams and trolls just as satisfying. I've personally extended the life of a few threads out fifteen pages (of 25) past its initial life expectancy. Which is just as good as starting the thread, myself.

The thing is that he was recently investigating Petraeus. He'd also e-mailed his colleagues saying that he was being investigated and was about to go "off the radar" pending 'something big.'

The other thing is that flaming-wreck accidents like that are relatively rare. Cars are generally designed with several redundancies in the fuel line that often prevent fuel fires following a crash. Particularly modern ones. Like the one he was driving.

It does happen from time to time - but automobile manufacturers are pretty good about keeping their cars from being of the "explode on impact" variety.

It's a relatively unusual crash that comes after he tells his news network that he's about to release 'something big' and that he's under investigation (or, at least, someone gave him the impression he was...) - a reporter who has a history reporting on high-ranking government agency officials.

I'm actually curious if someone aligned with Petraeus called in some off-the-book favors to try and scare the guy - and something went amiss. People in that level of office have all kinds of friends and can probably put together two or more special operative teams comprised of former and/or retired operatives with a few phone calls. There's a whole set of shadow games behind those offices that have the potential to cause something like this.
