I've just finished code Geass and I consider it to be one of the best anime out there. I watched it due to the constant comparison to Death Note, and it is very true. I've seen many similarities between the two series, and some major differences.
Which do you guys prefer? Code Geass is better in terms of action and ploty twist, but Death Note is also intese.
I prefer Death Note for now, but my opinion could change soon:dunno:

Code Geass is by far my favourite anime, Death Note was great but there wasn't enough action

Kinda lost interest after L's death too

Of course not, it's not an action series o_o

On topic: As entertaining as Code Geass was, it has fatal flaw which is its pacing. Had it been longer, some of the important characters could of had more development which they really needed. I felt nothing for the characters who died in the series
Rolo, Shirley, Euphemia(Btw her death was stupid as hell) etc.
The fast pacing also made some of the events seem rushed, especially in R2 where there is some kind of plot twist in every episode

Also the constant fanservice went out of control, during an epic mecha fight, all you see is this:
You must be registered for see images

I prefer Death Note, not even a contest

I actually liked that part of the Knightmare fights .-.

Yeah Code Geass an deathnote are both two really good anime, I think code geass is better I give it a 10/10 and I give deathnote a 9/10 but L is one of my favorite character of any series I've read.

The key difference between light and Lelouch is that:

Lelouch would sacrifice his plans for his sister
Light would sacrifice his sister for his plans U_U

Tbh the fan service was fine i guess, at least it wasnt the center of attention and completely distracted me from the story.

Yeahh i preferred Lelouch because he had limits and things he cared for, but Light, but a crazy mofo who would sacrifice anyone and anything, making him an amazing character.

Both are great series. *contains spoilers*
I prefer the Death Note OSTs even though Code Geass has some good ones too. They just stuck with me more. Not to mention the first opening for DN... which I loved (although I can't say the same for OP 2).

I hate to sound like I'm hopping the bandwagon but I too did not like Light vs. Near nearly as much as Light vs. L. Strangely enough I actually liked Light's death a lot more than L's, which doesn't seem to be the popular opinion. His reflection on his pre-Death Note days while running for his life was great and the soundtrack fit the scene well. I'm actually glad it wasn't a big "victory" on his part by the end. Wish they would have added Kira's "cult" from the manga though, it was interesting to see actual supporters of Kira worshiping their god and praying for his return.

Now Code Geass is a bit more solid as far as I'm concerned. It may get a bit silly at times, but I'm not very picky. One thing I didn't approve of was Charles' plan. Too bizarre for me. Like I said I'm really not that picky but that part of the story just bothered me. And of course the ending played a big role in everything. Unfortunately I already expected it to be a big twist considering all the hype that people gave Lelouch's "death" and the end of the series. T'was still a fun experience though :)

I also like CG's characters more. I couldn't care for Mello or Near in all honesty. Misa Misa is okay but only because she's fun. I was expecting Light to have another threat when another death note user came into play.. so I suppose that played a part in my judgement through disappointment. Not to say that I loved the entire CG cast or anything (some actually annoyed me more than any DN character).

So yeah overall I give it to Code Geass but not by much.

***SPOILER ALERT***
What is great about Death Note is Light's development. Starting off with an intentions of creating an ideal world without crime, but his real intentions faded away as he got more obsessed with Death Note. You could say that Light had a split personality and his inner side took over him little by little, and you can clearly see the difference when Light lost his memories of Death Note. Sincere person who really was concerned of the people around him, that's what kind of person Light really is. However, when he regained his memories that's also when the ''KIRA Light'' took over. Just watch the scene, his character changes completely:
That's when his downfall began, but what makes Light's character excellent is his redemption in the end, realizing that there's no one who could save him, regretting that he picked up the notebook and just desperately trying to escape death. The final scene speaks for itself:

Yeahh the opening for DN was really good. The best thing about DN was that L and Light were working together to catch Kira/Light making Light a master of deception even though L did suspect him, Thats what Code Geass lacked. There was no suspouions on who Zero was most people didnt even believe Lelouch would even be linked.

DN OST was really good it built towards the intensity of the moment and had several mind games which i loved.
Both these Anime are seriously awesome though

yeahh i do agree that the character development of Light was must more extreme than Lelouch, however Lelouch had boundaries and and a reason for doing what he did, whereas light had selfish ambitions. The spit personality of Light/Kira was absolutely fantastic though, it made me root for him and really likable in a strange way
