Hello everyone,

I watched within the last 3 weeks Code Geass R1/2 and the first 2 OVA titled Akito the Exiled.

First off I want to say that I really enjoyed R1/2. The OVA is great too but unfortunately it creates so many more questions than answers. I am disappointed that the projected episodes of the OVA are expected to be delayed for who knows how long. I really appreciate the animation quality and the story to go with it. The OVA had even better animation in some aspects (if not all). I really wish the other 2 "planned" episodes are released someday still.

Spoilers:
My questions are...
  1. Why is "Zero/Lelouch" all of a sudden "Julius Kingsley"?
  2. Where are all the other original characters in this time period?
  3. What is Suzakus reason for keeping Julius alive?
  4. How was Julius revived? (seemed rather clear he died in Ep. 50)
  5. Where are the Black Knights?
  6. Is Julius to become emperor again?
  7. Where is Nunnuly?
My assumed answers...
  1. I have a feeling the name change may be because "Zero" and "Lelouch" was obviously not a name people would want to hear these days lol.
  2. I want to know this.
  3. I feel Suzaku wants Lelouch to help him continue to try to make the world a peaceful place again.
  4. I'm assuming maybe Lelouch lost consciousness instead of dying OR Suzaku had him revived, OR perhaps it has something to do with C2 saving him maybe.
  5. I again want to know.
  6. I feel like Julius isn't trying to be Emperor again, but at the same time I do think he is. This is a really hard part for me to understand, maybe Suzaku is using him because his geass eye is covered up (to protect Suzaku?).
  7. I again want to know.

I couldn't find any discussions on google for these questions I had.
Does anyone else feel like the show should go on?

To answer pretty much all your questions right off the bat, the show takes place in Europe between R1 and R2. In that period Lelouch was not Lelouch but whomever Charles wanted him to be. Chales Geass is the power to rewrite peoples thoughts and beliefs, in their head only though. Kind of like how Charles used Geass on Nunnaly to make her believe she was blinded from traumatization but in reality it was due to Charles Geass power. He did the same thing to Lelouch if you remember from some flashbacks. This sub series is now more or less free to use Lelouch however it pleases. Here, under Charles Geass, he is "hypnotized" to thing he is Julius Kingsley.

In this time period, the 1 year hiatus from the end of season 1 and the beginning of season 2, the Black Knights are in hiding essentially waiting for their leader to return because they essentially can't get things done without him. That is what they believed at first anyway. Suzaku knows everything about Lelouch, everything. He knows that Lelouch is hypnotized, he knows about Geass, and he knows about Nunnaly and the everything else you can think of that Lelouch knows.

Finally, the age old question. Is Lelouch alive after the end? Well we don't know for sure. It was more or less an open ending, with hints going towards him being alive from obtaining Charles ability of immortality and so him being "killed" was the trigger for him to end up immortal.

PS Lelouch is having his eye covered so that way no one knows about his geass or there is no risk of him using it on accident. So far we don't know if Lelouch knows he has Geass at this point, but we know that he believes he is some Royal Commander that is an expert tactician whom is meant to crush Europe. Lelouch may be hypnotized under geass but he still has his inherent ability to command units so that is why they are using him and why Europe falls in the R2 season, although we don't see it, because Lelouch was the one who crushed them. My theory anyway.

I really appreciate the response. That makes a lot of sense considering I didn't recognize it was between R1 and R2. Your right, that pretty much answered all the questions. It also makes sense when I think about the flying Nightmares in R2. Also since the OVA is centered in Euro, most of the original characters are not involved. I figured Lelouch didn't care about dying due to immortality, but I can only assume. There wasn't too much background on the Zero Requiem plan to know for sure.

Is there an OVA about after R2?
