It's a character from a different series (kinda the same intellectual type as Light but a bit different personality).

Honestly it's a near tie for me. If Misa Misa turned out to be an actual threat to Light and L (making it a 3 way battle) or if the second part appealed to me more (inb4 band wagoner hurr durr) it would be above Code Geass. The thing is that after the first episode and perhaps the last, Light never really doubted his goals and would easily discard anything in the name of his holy reign. Lelouch on the other hand makes things interesting by coming into conflict with others and even himself on multiple occasions.

Code Geass takes the win for me, I personally think it was better

Geass takes this. It's more fast paced and shows a lot more signs of intellect While as in Death Note, Light always just sits there looking badass for 40 secs.
