Yeah right and the Mass Effect 3 ending is actually good.Activision recently responded to several negative comments pointed towards Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Following the responses, the Call of Duty publisher has now said that saying Call of Duty titles don’t have a copy and paste formula each year. They’ve also said that saying upcoming Call of Duty titles will mirror its predecessors too much is an unfair statement to make.
Speaking on our recent story regarding the responses, Activision’s Social Media Manager, Dan Amrich, stated:
That said, if you do not feel Call of Duty is worth your time or money, I totally respect that. A lot of other people (myself included) enjoy playing the game and feel the maps are worth their asking price. But we all make different decisions, because there are a lot of different kinds of gamers out there.
I don’t think the games are copy/pasted every year either, but maybe it’s all in what you are looking for in a game.
You don’t have to like what CoD is every year, but to say now “it’s going to be the same thing” seems pretty unfair. Better to wait and see what’s on tap before you make up your mind. If MW2 was all you needed, that’s fine too.
Despite Amrich’s comments, Activision are certainly feeling the effects of consumers not being satisfied with the Call of Duty series with the latest installment, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, showcasing a sales decline, as evidenced by its failure to be included in NPD’s top 10 sold games during March.
This year’s Call of Duty title is rumoured to a sequel to Black Ops, with many leaks pointing to a reveal in May. Would Treyarch be able to steady Activision’s ship which is fast heading into a stormy sea, only time will tell.
