Isn't it obvious? During the time of the beginning of jubidara, when the kyruubi was being ripped out of him and he was left in a critical state very very critical, that's like the closest to dying as Naruto literally ever got, since his death looked almost inevitable until the hermit and obito came in literally the penny of time not even the nick.
